Hi there! The apartment we live in requires us to have any appliances professionally installed rather than just popped in ourselves, so I'm not looking for a 'why not just do it yourself??' type response.

We've ordered a dishwasher through IKEA and called their number for who they recommend to install it and they will charge 1500:- to do it! That's about half the price of the dishwasher itself and seems... rather steep to me. Has anyone had something like this done recently? If so, how much were you charged for it? And if you are in Stockholm, who did you use?

Thank you in advance!

A few years ago we had such installed and I think we payed about 1000:- so it sounds about right, given the cost of labour in sweden.

Why do you think the installation cost has anything to do with the cost of the dishwasher? 1500 in Stockholm sounds cheap. Consider that this includes:

MOMS (VAT)
Social security and other employer's fees
Employee's income tax
Travel time to/from your place

It will barely be enough for a few beers after the job is done.

Just put it in yourself and check for any drips after a couple of days, 1500 is a rip off

Nobody can check anyway, and would only come to light if a problem which you would ne the first to see before it became a problem

If you live in a flat, buying a plastic drip cover to put underneath can be a good investment.

you not required to have a plumber fit so long as- there is the sheet under and there is a quick shut off water switch (same for all devices that use incoming water) can be on the sink tap under or on the connection directly to the washer. so long as you have this insurancewise your covered. (even if a bostad has made its own silly rules) 1500kr prety normal for the plumber as soon as you have their receipt they will be liable fo leakages etc
