(edit title) DNA test results - accuracy 99.99+, but is there any room for errors? Options

I have read that if all 16 markers are not check, this could invalidate the results, as well as the tester's not having access to the mother's sample (although this is not necessary, just requires extra lab work).

If a report does not include results for each marker, could this invalidate the results in a legal sense?

To all intents and purposes you can consider a DNA test result to be 100% conclusive.

I think the OP has every intention of supporting the child, but he might kick it's mother into touch!!

OP, I think the odds are millions to 1, but this presume no contamination. If a sample was marginal match or unmatched, then they would say so or/and request another sample to confirm. Any legitimate company caring out DNA matching, knows the implications of getting it wrong.

OP, generally a 16 marker is not too informative.
However, if you are the father, and the child is male ... then testing it will be allot easier than that of a daughter.

As there is a lot of shady web companies offering this ... not too accurate most of the time.

To all intents and purposes you can consider a DNA test result to be 100% conclusive.

With a presumed accuracy of 99.99% one would expect one incorrect result in every 10000 tests which isn't very much (unless you happen to be that one) but significant still. If one wants to be extra specially sure one can always do the test again which raise the odds of both being wrong to one in 100 million.

She is saying the baby IS mine despite having drastically different charcateristics, and she has cheated in the past. Unfortunately I have no solid evidence, but she is insisting that I am not emotionally supportive etc, despite the fact that we have an equal workload with the baby, and with regular chores my share has gone up to 90%!

It is becoming very stressful - there have been a lot of ups and downs over the last few months, but although I admit I am not perfect, I wish that I had some way to prove that she was cheating, so we can work through it and finally move on.

If you are in any doubt, I would have the test; you wouldn't want to be raising some other blokes child without being fully aware of that. However by doing so, you will be making it clear to the kids mother that you don't trust her and that could have consequences as well...
