Hi, I'm a Canadian student moving to Stockholm for work with the International IDEA (Institute for Democracy and Electoral Asisstance). I've been trying to find a place to stay on se.easyroommate.com and craigslist, but it's proven IMPOSSIBLE. I have almost been scammed 3 times by somebody in Romania, another in Ireland and the third IN Stockholm. It seems that there is little guarantee in renting- it is expected that I will send a large sum in a deposit without proof of ID or allowing a visit to the apartment. I leave for Spain in a few days where I will have little access to the internet- I am desperate to find a place to rent!
My budget is around 4500 sek; my stay in Stockholm is from May 15th to August 25th- if ANYBODY knows of a room for rent in somebody's apartment or anything accessible to the downtown core PLEASE let me know! Your help would be greatly appreciated! |

blocket.se has lots more ads and people pay to list so you usually get less scammers.
Do not ever send cash before you see an apartment and have a key - people might tell you it's normal but it's not. If you're really stuck you can try a longer stay hotel or hostel - they're not as cheap as a room in an apartment but they're better than nothing until you find a room. You should be looking for "rum i andra hand" if that's any help. |

Have you tried bostad direkt?. That would be my first choice. If you click the rentals link on this page it will take you to a search engine. You must pay a fee to get contact information, but it is worth it, since people have known and used bostad direkt for years when they want to sublet or let a room.
