We are contemplating moving to Sweden in a couple of years, after we both have stopped working. My husband is a US citizen, I have dual US/EU citizenship. Are there any people on this list who have retired to Sweden? I'd love to hear your experiences and tips! Thanks a lot!

Regarding your question on the experiences of Dutch who retired to Sweden: you could post your question on a Dutch forum. A very active Dutch forum on Sweden is http://webforum.zwedenweb.com. You could post it in English if the Dutch language is a problem. Post in under the section 'Wonen, werken en studeren'.

I retired to Sweden in 2000. I came on a sambo visa though. I have my US pension sent to a bank here. Since I came on a sambo visa I was told to register for a person number and insurance as soon as possible after I arrived. I did this and all went well. I had the regular required visits at Migrationverket and then applied for Swedish citizenship. For me it was easy. Your situation is a bit different as you are not in Sweden. The Swedish Consulate Office in your area should answer your questions and give you the correct advise.
