Hello everyone,
I am new to this website and am looking for some advice/guidance to finding ANY job related to my field that could help me get a residence permit. My personal life has recently changed and I've decided it is finally time for me to head abroad for a while. I'm not sure if it'll be forever but I'd like to go for at least a year or two and Sweden is top on my list. I am 26 years old with an education in Radio and Television Arts and have worked for five years in Radio. Currently, I manage and program three FM Radio stations in a medium sized market with some significant ratings success. I am an accomplished announcer/presenter but prefer the programming/management side of things. I've also written for a few different newspapers and websites, mostly sports and entertainment news but I'm fully capable in hard news as well. I am looking for any job, even entry level, within the media/entertainment industry in Sweden. Does anyone work in this field or have any advice whatsoever? I know it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to try and work in a communications field in a country that speaks a different language, but hey, I know the industry and am good at it. I also run a web based business which is why I'm not too worried about how much I make. Really, I'm looking for a job to help get me in the country and to give me an opportunity to meet people and learn the industry differences from market to market or country to country. And while I'm there of course I want to check out some of that finesse style Hockey! Any help/advice helps and is greatly appreciated. |

Best of luck to you. The media market is small in Sweden. Without knowing Swedish finding any entry level job in any field is difficult at best. In order to get residency you will need a job offer with a minimum salary of 13000kr per month. Your web based income has no bearing on this. Work permits may take six months to process so any prospective employer must wait for you to obtain this. If your dream is to live in Sweden the best thing is to learn Swedish.
