Hello,

I am currently researching cost of living in Sweden. I am considering doing a 12+ month IT contract in Stockholm , I realise this topic has been discussed before, but i did not find all the answers I was looking for, so I got some questions on living in 2 types of areas (good and ok):

1a/. names of good and ok areas in and around Stockholm?

1b/. distances + ease of public transport of these good and ok areas from city centre?

Typical cost of:

2a/.rent in a 1 bedroom place in a good and ok area with bills?

2b/. rent+bills in a shared 2 or 3 bed in a good and ok area?

3/. income taxes, other taxes and other compulsory insurances?

4/. cost of public transport?

5/. social costs, like how much is a beer in a bar or dinner in a middle of the road restaurant?

Other:

6/. some good rental property websites?

7/. ease of cycling in the city?

8/. does a rented place typically come furnished?

Many Thanks

Are you sure you did much research? Most of these topics have been covered in this forum ad nauseum and Google is your friend for the remaining topics. Come back when you've exhausted your resourcefulness and are really stuck for answers. I guarantee your list will be much shorter and you'll be more likely to get help from the forum regulars... we're a bit burnt out on these repeat questions.

Happy hunting!

You must be careful about renting because there are a lot of scams, especially on blocket. Many places are furnished but they are second hand contracts. Housing is horrifically expensive here. Actually everything is expensive here.

Public transportation: Plenty available and costs about 700sek per month

Cycling - No problem.

Dinner and drinks: Ridiculously expensive. It is unlikely that you will get a dinner and a couple of beers for less than around 400sek per person. http://www.flyinghorse.se/ http://www.restaurangkartan.se/Stockholm/Vasastan/

Good luck.
