Hi,
So I've been to vårdcentralen and a few trips to the doctor already but haven't reached the 900kr threshold for doctor's visits yet, and paid about 1,100kr on meds, which leaves me 1,100kr to reach the threshold. I have yet to pick up my medication refills which could easily reach about 2500kr (I checked the prices on apoteket.se). My question is, for the medicines for example, when I pick them up, do I pay the entire amount and be refunded or will they automatically calculate it for me and just pay the 1,100kr it takes to reach the threshold? Another thing, I've seen a specialist lately and he has requested from the Radiology department to schedule an MRI. I have yet to hear from them. I have no idea how much it costs, can anybody give me a ballpark amount? This will be in Danderyd sjukhus and it will be a brain MRI with contrast. Also, is this covered by the högkostnadskort? If my Google translate is correct, it says here that it also includes radiology: http://www.vardguiden.se/Sa-funkar-det/Lag...gkostnadsskydd/ Under what category would it belong then? Tekniska hjälpmedel? - Öppen sjukvård, sjukvårdande behandling och viss tandvård: 900 kronor - Läkemedel: 2 200 kronor - Tekniska hjälpmedel: 2 000 kronor - Sjukresor: 1 400 kronor Any light in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I just want to prepare financially considering it's the summer and I'm tempted to book a lot of trips! Thanks ahead! |

MRI is under the first category. Tekniska hjälpmedel is for things like wheelchairs, crutches, oxygen tanks and other things you buy or rent from the hospital and take home with you. |

As long as you have a referral from a doctor then it is included as a medical appointment - when I had an MRI last time around in Stockholm it cost 200kr and they added it to the total in my high cost card
As soon as you hit 1100kr - the high cost free card will be issued and it will be free for the remainder of the 12 months |

They take it from the date of you first receipt - i got mine last week - my first receipt was dated Feb 15 2012 and the free card expires Feb 14 2013
When I got mine the cost has gone up to 1100kr |

Thanks Puffin for the quick answer.
I believe they don't physically give out a card anymore, does the system just records everything then they mail it to your civic registration address? 1100SEK is for the fees payable for seeing the doctor, what is the amount for prescription medications? Can you also tell me about the amounts for dental ( for adult), I know that the threshhold is rather high but the percentage subsidies(reimbursements) go up once the first threshhold is reached. Thanks. |

I believe they don't physically give out a card anymore, does the system just records everything then they mail it to your civic registration address? For medical care I had a card that I stamped at each appointment - otherwise you can collect your receipts or ask places to give you copies - I find that systems even within the same county do not always "join up" the physio could not access my payment information from the hospital However for medicine it worked on my person number - of you use the same Apotek QUOTE 1100SEK is for the fees payable for seeing the doctor, what is the amount for prescription medications? Recently gone up to 2200kr/år - if you have 2500kr to collect then you should only pay 2200kr and then be free There is also an option I beleive of paying be direct debit an equal payment for 12 months - ask the pharmacist QUOTE Can you also tell me about the amounts for dental ( for adult), I know that the threshhold is rather high but the percentage subsidies(reimbursements) go up once the first threshhold is reached. Dental subsidy is very low in Sweden - you get a subsidy cheque for between 150-300kr/year depending on age - 300kr for adults under 30 or over 75 - 150 for adults between 30-75 Otherwise you pay - full cost on bills up to 3000kr/year - 50% of bills between 3000-15,000kr/year - 15% over 15,000kr |
