I hate to be the bearer of bad news! However, unless things have changed, which I do not think they have, you do not get any money while going to sfi, not even after a certain level. The money you hear people talking about could be a bonus you get. That bonus is up to 12 000,- sk and you have to finish sfi in a year or less. After that, there is money from CSN. I am not exactly sure of the amounts but I do not it depends on your education from your home country and if you have children or not. Good luck!

From Stockholms Stad website:-
What is a SFI bonus? The state would like those moving to Sweden to learn Swedish quickly. Therefore, the state provides funds to those who start studying SFI and quickly pass the course and are awarded a grade. The SFI bonus applies to people who: - are registered in Stockholm City - have been registered in Sweden since July 1, 2009 - and are a refugee, in need of protection or have a residence permit on the grounds that they have their family here Your decision for a residence permit contains a code. There are only certain codes that give you the right to seek the SFI bonus. One of these codes should be given with the decision: A3 AM B6 A7 AS G A8 AT K A9 AV K1 AC B K4 AF B3 K9 AK B4 KV B5 If you have registered for the first time in Sweden after July 1, 2010 the following codes apply: M1 M4 T1 M2 M5 T9 M3 M6 If you are an EU or EEA citizen and have right of residence instead of a residence permit, you can contact the SFI Centre for specific information. |

That might be the rules within Stockholm, but not necessarily throughout the rest of Sweden. The official national regulations do mention the conditions above, but list them as "can, not "must". Contact your local kommun or Komvux for the right information for your region. Generally it's money paid out as a reward for completing the programme within a certain amount of time after you arrived into Sweden, and after you commenced with SFI. You can also receive part of the reward money if you pass part of the course within a certain time, it doesn't necessarily have to be the entire course.

Here is a link to the pdf that explains it in English:
http://www.skolverket.se/polopoly_fs/1.166...%2020120113.pdf It should be the same everywhere, Your Local Community pays it out and they are then in turn repaid by Skolverket. |
