Hey all! Well I will get straight to the point, my wife as lovely as she is tends to be a bit opptimistic on how well the Swedish system runs and even though I told her in April we should start looking into Dagis she said nobody signs up so early and so we waited and she signed up in September. Now she is supposed to be going back to work in the middle of January and just for giggles because we haven't been confirmed at any of our 3 choices I got her to call them up and ask how close we are since she is supposed to be going back to work soon...and what do they say, at least another 6 months. So we are in a major pickle here as often happens when you allow for any optimism within the Swedish system, so does anyone have some recommendations for private daycare in Gothenburg? Any experiences? All help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Merry Christmas to all!

Are you talking about private daycares operating within the subsidised system or are you talking about hiring a private nanny/au-pair?
The main problem is that in the major cities where there is a shortage of dagis places you do need to sign up early to get queue time - basically everywhere is full and the big time when places turn up is August when the older kids go off to school - so you are waiting for someone to leave or move house Would you only accept the 3 places you have chosen as that is not many - sometimes you will get a place quicker if you are prepared to accept places in other daycares - but would this be an option for you? You could call the kommun/private/cooperative dagises to find out what the waiting time would be if you were prepared to accept any place |
