I can't compete with your elegance and eloquence, Hamster. So I think I'll just repost your winged words and let you hoist yourself by your own petards.

QUOTE (Hamsterdam @ 4.Feb.2013, 09:00 PM) *
The difference between you and I is that I don't take this place or my role in it seriously...

QUOTE (cogito @ 5.Feb.2013, 12:58 PM) *
"between you and I"(sic)? . You don't take grammar too seriously either.

QUOTE (Hamsterdam @ 5.Feb.2013, 06:19 PM) *
Yes, an American thinking he knows grammar. How funny, just like the sad pathetic and lonely dullard that is cognito.

Actually you've made three mistaken assumptions in this last post. Probably because you are still listening to those voices in your head.

I will, however, accept that I'm a dullard. Most of us seem to be dullards compared to the towering intellect of a Hamster. Your standard rebuttal to posters who use facts rather than spittle as discussion tools is to call them idiots/stupid/morons.

Here's some hints from the dullard:
-"between you and I" (sic): objective case after a preposition. But perhaps they didn't teach basic grammar wherever it was you went to school?
-It's "cogito," not "cognito." But perhaps they didn't teach Latin where you went to school either. What is certain is that they did not teach reading comprehension.
-As for my being linguistically inferior to yourself... je ne savais pas que tu etais aussi polyglotte que moi. Tu prefer peut-etre que je t'ecris en francais? D'accord. Je le ferai, espece de connard.

Wow.. this turned into a shit slinging contest very fast...

Just do as I do and place the posters that annoy me on ignore... I have been 'ignoring' several posters now for the month or so... Makes this place much more enjoyable...

Yes. the discussion was going well until Hamsterdam posted (#28).
I'll try to get it back on track:

Danes are cool because of their courageous defense of freedom of speech and the press during the Mohamed cartoon riots.
Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen did not cave in to pressure from religious fanatics, nor from the appeasers at the UN, nor to the he European Commission.

John, your 'ignore' advice has merit but I look at the wider application with regards to individuals only viewing far-leftist state sponsored news media sources and not unbiased and well rounded news reports. Sometimes it is good to understand the way the wind blows instead of self-ingratiating oneself with constant yes, sir of course you are correct remarks. On a particular topic I may and do take a hard line but am totally capable of looking at your perspective on other threads with fresh thought. Profound nuggets of wisdom are gained from the most unsuspecting sources. Hey John, I do not preclude the possibility that I may have learned a thing or two from you. -Paul

John,
Yours is useful advice. I would also like to have "full of $hit" click-function.

But sometimes I think it is useful to quote and repost comments--just to highlight the abuse or stupidity of some posters. Their own words often are more damaging than anything I could reply.
Like this:

"I wish someone would do the world a favour and shoot you..."(Hamsterdam Post #866 on gun law discussion.)

Meh! I'd rather not see stupid comments in the first instance. I love a good debate and even a good ribbing every now and then but when people get personal or leave childish insults for lack of anything better to say it gets tiresome.

Most of the folks here are good people up for a laugh and a bit of banter. And even the ones that can't take a joke and are far too serious (no names) are at least intelligent and contribute routinely to genuine queries and they have a 'stance' on most subjects that they truly believe in. I can't help but admire that.

Others just exist here to be idiots and provoke sheer stupidity. You know what they say, never argue with an idiot as they will drag you down and beat you with experience. smile.gif

Ignorance is bliss and in my case I would prefer to be ignorant of the rantings of fools than be drawn into a 'discussion' with them.

Great line! True that...and the rest of what you said.
Only hope I remember...
