Just came across this post. Did anyone use the European health insurance card? Does it make cost of visiting doctor free? Very useful to have if so.

mmm, I thought so. I don't have personal number yet, so just had to pay 550 sek to see a doctor. Need to get my ass in gear and get that number.

Time to get a personal number is a whole different topic (check some of the threads on this forum). It depends on circumstances I guess.
Travel/Health insurance, before you arrive, is a very good idea. |

Yes, you will get a reserve number until you get the proper one.

If you are from the UK go to http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/articles/artic...?articleId=1073 that is where I got mine before I left and came here. I still pay voluntary NI contribution etc and a little bit of tax in the UK. Valid until 2010 and then I will re-apply. It replaced the old E111 form, not it comes in the form of a plastic card the same size as a credit card.

For the Swedish EHIC you need to speak to some place in Gotland. All on this webpage for you:

Anyone in Malmö knows which of the offices that are most suitable, for getting a card made? |
