Hej guys!
My English boyfriend moved over in June, after we have been dating at a distance for three years. He seems quite ok, hes been working for a month and have two weeks left to work, and then we are going on holiday, and when we get back, he will start SFI. He seems ok as I said, but I know he misses friends and that he feels a bit lonely. Anyone in the area of Helsingborg that would be up for meeting for a drink or something? Maria |

Hi,
I am Martijn and just moved from Holland to Helsingborg for an internship. Since just hanging around all by myself is a bit lonely I was wondering if anybody is up for a drink and have a conversation I can join, because my swedish isn't that good.. Please let me know! Greetings Martijn |

I've been in Sweden for a few months, giving things a go. Was thinking about spending time in Helsingborg to see if a larger town was any better regarding social opportunities. It's tough, Swedes just don't seem to want to know, except superficially. Don't tell me it's the same everywhere? Is seeking out expats and other outsiders the only way in this country? I might as well leave the country then. Anyone fancy dissuading me? Thanks, Nick.

Sad to hear you think so. It`s not the same everywhere. Seeking out other expats is not the only way. There are loads of ways. Have you tried to pick up a hobby? Have you tried to do some sports? Have you joined any social groups? Done any volunteer work? Have you gone to any social events? What are your interests? Have you asked around on any social media sites? If you fall for the stereotype that all Swedes are cold then that is all you are going to see. Are you going to be the guy that reinforces a stereotype or break through it? |
