What was your experience?

I have applied for my citizenship and then requested my passport immediately. After a week I requested, then they sent it back in 2 days. Now, I have my passport. So, I don't need to worry. I can travel whenever I want. Even if I call them they would not answer. They would say we have much to do. So, I have no choice but have to wait like a fool. That's the only thing I can do.

Hi,
How long does one have to wait till one can apply for a Swedish citizenship if he/she working in Sweden continuously? I know that you get a permanent residency in 2 years.

I am wondering, once you submit your application and get your passport back, is it possible to go and live in another country for work reasons (say you get a job in Europe or even outside europe) and then let migrationsverket do their lengthy process and inform you whenever a decision is made? Or that you actually are REQUIRED to stay in Sweden in wait? Cause as far as I know you only have to live here to fill the time requirement, and once the time has arrived you're not obliged to live in Sweden. What's your opinion about that guys?

Guys ,i surprised when i came to sweden

The bad news that they changed validity period for their passport , from 10 years to 5 years only

Why why , Most of EU has 10 years passports

Norway ,Denmark,Ice land ,and the germany ,france ,,,,,Even countries with high and riskyun emplöyements like spain ,Grace, and Romania,,,,

all issue 10 years ,

In sweden even skatteverket id kort was 10 years and passports as well

Canada that issue 5 years passport will issue by the end of 2012 two types 5 and 10 years

,,
Another problem that Sweden has no agreement with CANADA to exchange Driving License
Geramany swiss ,Belgium ,,,,France has

Who is responsibile to talk about this issues,,,,???

I would suspect that it is because Sweden has a higher road safety target than those other countries you mentioned, and part of reaching that safety target is to ensure that as many drivers as possible are educated on driving in Sweden. Personally, I think that all people who become resident in a new country should have to take the driving test for that country. Regardless of their country of origin or amount of time that they have spent driving. Each country has it's own unique and specific rules that are important to know. I've got a friend here in Sweden who came here from Ireland, and he doesn't have a clue what half of the Sweden driving rules or roads signs are because he simply exchanged his license. I had been driving for 30 years prior to coming to Sweden. Having to take the Swedish tests helped me to tidy up my driving, bring my driving techniques up to date, and to get rid of a few lazy habits which had crept in over the years. It was annoying havng to take all the tests, but I think I'm a better driver in Sweden today because of it.

My friend ,u didnt answer the first question regarding PASSPORTS VALIDITY

Any way, regarding to Canada exchange driving license wich my second question :

Sweden dont verify or recognize any Countries outside EU ,
'
There is No AUSTRALA ,NEW ZEALAND ,CANADA or USA Exchange for their driving licenses

These 4 countries are THE Major countries in the world ,

Its more recognized and their system is much identified and welcomed in all over the world

At least its more Internationally recognition than Romania ,Greece ,Spain

Wich are minor and has its financial big problems and no much speakers talk these countries language

When u study for example in CANADA ur certificate will be more recognised all over the World

but talk abou Romania certificate , where english is minor ??and much much unemployments,EURO CRISIS AREA

I support u regarding SWEDEN must not recognise any Driving license for exchange

BUT PLEASE APPLY THIS TO ALL COUNTRIES if u want my support!!

Thanks alot

I agree entirely with you. I think that Sweden should make all new residents sit a Swedish driving test. It's mostly EU laws which prevent this from happening today. And, as I said, I think that all other countries should be doing the same. I don't think that Sweden should drop it's standards just because other countries choose to do so. If you look at one of the "major" countries that you mentioned, New Zealand, their road fatality rate is twice that of Sweden. There are lots of reasons behind that figure, but it's a good reason why Sweden should require a new resident from New Zealand (like myself) to pass a Swedish driving test.

UK ,New Zealand ,Australia ,USA ,CANADA are 5 majors

Means their financial protocols ,life style ,Language ,intensive welcome programs for migrants and Recognition in WORLD

SWEDEN identify only UK cause its belongs TO EU as a partially member, same case as swiss and norway

for example ,In GCC (GULF COUNTRIES COUNCIL ) wich consist of six countries (SAUDI ARABIA ,BAHRAIN ,OMAN ,UAE,KUWAIT and QATAR)

THE MAJOR 5 COUNTRIES ARE MORE WELCOME cause of history and language

ANY WAY ALL WESTERN EU ARE WELCOME BUT THE 5 MAJOR ARE MORE FAMILIAR

When u talk about high fatilty records if it happen in New Zealand it also happen in UK ,

But its not the CRITERION OR CRITERIA for Exchanging licenses

Criteria is only MEMBERSHIP of EU ,what ever the cost ,,

Even if members are bad,,

Thanks

And here I thought the "major" countries would be China, Japan, USA, Germany and perhaps India - what did the ones you mentioned do to deserve their "major" status (aside from the US which I'll grant you?)

Ok, I don't know what you mean by "financial protocols", but the top 4 by GDP are:

USA, China, Japan and Germany (the same countries I originally stated).

On that list, Australia, New Zealand and Canada would rank 13th, 52nd, and 10th respectively.

If you are talking about per capita GDP, then it those countries would be 14th, 32nd and 12th respectively.

Amusingly, in both categories, Sweden ranks higher than at least one of your "major" countries - doesn't this mean Sweden should also be added to the major group?

I am not sure why language is a factor making these countries "major". If it's because they all speak English, then Sweden should also be included, as most adults speak English too.

Life style? This is difficult to measure, but most indicators don't reveal a huge difference in any of these countries, and as of 2011 Norway tops the list, so should Norway also be included as a "major" country?

Welcoming to immigrants - how are you measuring this?

My friend , im talking about richest countries in the world

Of course i think per capita(income) Norway is no.1

Regarding life style ofcourse SWEDEN ,NORWAY ,DENMARK recognised the most high

Swedish people are very very polite , i respect them very much , and they are kind

They have high measures for life style , Welfare, health care and (fashion is part of life style)

But

My point is Language , THe most spread language in the world is English

And in SWEDEN English is not taught in the most BACHELOR (BSc) dgrees in many types of colleges

For example no English speaking for midicine and engineering , BA in BSc, ...etc

And if this changed dosnt means the first language in SWEDEN is English

No social life in SWEDEN in English

If i speak English i will be considered from outside or tourist or business man or investor or stranger or student

Means some body who is not SWEDISH

And swedish is not used outside SWEDEN

My realtive , she is a girl , and studied in Sweden , and she is swedish citizen ,

She is doctor (Läkare) and she studied in swedish and she understand and talk little english

When she worked in Dubai , she faced lond day treat in English ,
She completed 4 months and resigned.

This an example only

So , i think u understood what is the mean of 1st language speaking ,and spread of langauge

thats why , i think those 5 countries are majors...

the same for Gemany , Nether land,,,Romania,,,

etc. they are not native english speakers,,,,

welcoming intensive programs for migrants means encourage skilled people to come and work using English

of course there is another scheme programs for many types of migrants

Any way , i talked too much in this article , and i think u got my point

I say also

SWEDEN IS THE MOST GREAT AND BEAUTIFULL SYSTEM FOR THE PEOPLE LIVING IN ,,

SWEDEN IS THE MOST ORGANIZED PEOPLE and GOVERNMENT
