Your assertion that your 5 "major" countries (with the exception of the US and UK which are indeed economic powers) are the world's richest is laughable. The rest of your post is incomprehensible garbage.
You also list Spain as a "minor" country with a language that "hardly anyone" speaks. This leads me to believe you are either a troll or an idiot. Either way, I've had enough of your gibberish. Good night! |

I'm struggling to se what your issues are here. The driving license question has already been answered. The fact that the answer didn't suit you is neither here nor there. As for the 5 year passport issue, that's common in many countries. It's not like Sweden is the only country. You've been listening to Byke too much. This is done to ensure the the passport holder's information is up to date and that identities are correct. One reason for this is to permit the passport holders to travel visa free through many countries which normally would require visas. Those countries accept that a passport issued within the past 5 years is more likely to be legitimately used than an older passport. If a 5 year passport get stolen then it has a limited time use, as opposed to a 10 year passport which can be used for illegal activity for a decade. The current rule may well change in the future once all older passports have been replaced with newer biometric passports, which would take twice as long with the older style passports to be removed from circulation if they were issued for 10 years. Like it or not, that's the reason.
You might want to check your sources again. Some of the countries you quoted do actually have 5 year passport restrictions. Greece (which I think you were TRYING to spell) is one, and even Spain has a 5 year restriction for people under the age of 30. Finally, before you start placing language demands on other posters, you might want to learn English a little better yourself first. It's not a good look. |

Submit your application in February of course, and you could state on it your explanation given above, however since it is unlikely that it will be processed before the end of March (they estimate 7 - 10 months from the expiration of the current permit) then by the time they review your application the baby would have been here already!
What matters is not when they get the application, its when they review it and of course if they have not review it by then you can just update them. |

Applications for citizenship is processed by the Migration Board's office in Norrköping. The staff in Malmö are talking out of their hats. Send your passport with your application or it will placed in the queue with the longest waiting time since your application is missing vital information. |

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the waiting time to apply for citizenship. I am sambo with a Swede and I got my PUT this year, I will be elegible to apply for the citizenship next year; however, I was planning on travelling for 2 1/2 months outside the EU. Will this affect my waiting time to apply for citizenship? I have asked to other friends that have gone through the same process and they say that I can be outside sweden for 6 months without it affecting my time. Before that I had called Migrationsverket and they har told me I could be outside for 2 months but then I called again, just to double check and now they tell me I can only be outside Sweden for 5 weeks. Does anyone has any idea about this? Thanks |

Hi everyone,
I have some confusions regarding how to count the hemvisttid. In the Migrationverket website, it says that hemvisttid is counted from the time one has uppehållstillstånd för bosättning. I'm not sure what type of residence permit allows me to have that uppehållstillstånd för bosättning. Anyone applying for Swedish citizenship after being on work permit for 4 years and permanent residence for 1 year has become a Swedish citizen? The other day I called the case officer granting me my permanent residence and asked him when I could apply for Swedish citizen (since I might have to go home for a long period of time in California, my father is very sick A few days later I talked to a friend of mine who comes from Germany and now becomes a Swedish citizen. He told me that after 5 years of working in Sweden and he got the permanent residence in Sweden on the 5th year, he applied for Swedish citizenship straight ahead and he got it. It means that his 5 years of working here is counted as hemvisstid as well, otherwise he should have to wait for another 5 years since the day he got his permanent residence to be eligible to apply for Swedish citizenship. Does it mean that it varies from case to case or country to country? Or the case officer I talked to did not know what he was talking about? Could anyone help me on this? Regards, Oskar |
