"Launched on Thursday, July 28, the international version of the Beeb's on-demand service is now available in 11 European countries, namely Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland."

On why the Global iPlayer is different from the one enjoyed in the UK, Jana Bennett, BBC Worldwide's president of Worldwide Networks and Global iPlayer said “The app is only offering the best of BBC's content.”

The “best of BBC's content” includes shows like Fawlty Towers, Pride and Prejudice, Only Fools and Horses, Doctor Who, Eastenders, Panorama, and the story of the Royal Family. biggrin.gif (yawn)

At present, Global iPlayer is available on iPad only, in BBC's attempt to target the media savvy age group (25-40 years old). However, Bennett expects that it will be made available on iPhones before the end of the year. The app is also only available for free download via iTunes, though viewing itself isn't free. Viewers can opt to pay €6.99 (£6.11) per month, or €49.99 for an annual subscription, compared to those in the UK, who pay £12.15 for a monthly license fee.

Anyone who wants to see all this crap with therefore have to move, leaving the rest of us to manipluate our IP addresses and get all the UK content for absolutely nothing.

The international iplayer is just BBC prime via the net.
So I wouldn't expect much ...

However in the past 2 weeks, i cant watch live BBC via the BBC website with a VPN as it shows 1 or 2 seconds and then freezes and says online content is not available at present on all BBC channels?

So it does look like that the BBC is starting to clamp down in hopes of getting people off VPN accounts and spending cash with them directly for content that is almost worse than whats on in Sweden.

I found bbc iplayer to be very crap indeed when we got it for 10 days through identitycloaker. We could barely see the tennis ball as it was so blocky. SVT play is excellent quality, hook it up to the telly and it looks like normal telly almost.
Have been watching the excellent BBC series on outstanding women. Not sure what it's called in English but very good.

Streja, the reason why you got a blocky reception has nothing to do with BBC.
The fact that you used a 3rd party cloaker and a Swedish ISP has most probably more to do with it.

Many Swedish ISP operators restrict bandwidth to Swedish catchup services like SVT due to the bandwidth it uses. So if you get a proper VPN you will most probably find that not only the content of the BBC is far superior but also the speeds are also allot better.

I didn't know that SVT offered live streaming of channels through there website now?

I didn't say that did I?

They only stream live certain shows.

Why do you always assume that I don't think that the BBC has better content than SVT? I love the beeb. Stop chasing after me for God's sake.

I have very good bandwith through telia and svt play as I said looks like normal telly but what should I do to not get a blocky reception on bbc iplayer? Is there a remedy? Identity cloaker is crap then perhaps? Any help from you who hate me?

Calm down dear,
If you want a VPN then you should do some research into what is available as regardless of the local speed of your ISP, Telia is notoriously bad when it comes to with the allocation of bandwidth and servers based outside of Sweden. I have had conversations with Telia technical assistance where staff have actually told me that Telia often has much of its network speeds capped by 3rd party hosts in Europe simply because Telia is over subscribed. So allocation of bandwidth is capped which can lead to unstable speeds or blocking of certain servers.

I have Bahnhof internet and Overplay VPN and I can stream anything from the UK near as good as SVT Play. Sometimes better, when it's not so busy.

SVT is such rubbish. Just watched Fotbollskvållen. Absolute crap.

The only good stuff on SVT is the imported stuff.

That was a usual tip thanks. Are there any issues with it?

My 5 cents; instead of a VPN use a DNS server...works perfect and no proxy/vpn swithcing required. I use unblock-us (http://unblock-us.com/).
