Hello,
I would like to require some help regarding some job opportunities in Sweden for Engineers in the Geological Resources Field. Could anyone tell me were to look for information of companies acting in this kind of work around Sweden? I've heard that there's some kind of mining boom going on there, specially on the northern part of the country... Well, I would be very thankful for any assistance provided. Regards to you all |

Some kind of mining boom ? I presume that you're referring to the main industrial export activity of Sweden dating back to around around the 17th century ? Go away and do a bit of research if you want any employer to take you seriously. I would have thought that, had you had some kind of education in geological resources, you would be familiar with the world supply sources. And, yes, there are excellent opportunities within the Swedish mining industry, for good geotechnical engineers.

I've heard that there's some kind of mining boom going on there, specially on the northern part of the country... What are your qualification, where did you get them from? As said, With any credible course you would have almost certainly covered the massive corporations envolved in the mining up north and its history? It's a tough sector and without a high end degree or masters covering exactly the right area, you'll struggle. It's not just a matter of tagging along with this massive boom (which is more of a steady flow). There would be more work opportunities in Oz. |

Hi,
I don't understand why the bad mood on your replies, I was only requesting some information, but of course I am prepared to give more information on what you asked. First, sorry if I didn't mentioned all... but the question was not intended for me, but for another person that yes, has a degree in 'Geological Resources Engineering' taken in a Portuguese University (5 years) and has some years of professional experience working for the National Geological Institute in mining surveys and Gis database fields (that's what I know at least). The other part of the 1st post mentioned a some kind of mining boom... and yes I don´t know much of it really, it was comment by a Swedish person of my acquaintance in a informal conversation. So please, if anyone is willing to provide some assistance I would be much thankful for it. |

Hi again,
Sorry to insist again, but I was really hopping that someone could give some pointers on my post about companies working in this sector and places for job opportunities. Thanks again |

Sweco, WSP, Ramböll, LKAB, Northland Resources. There's also a number of Finnish companies working on the Swedish/Finnish border on new mining developments.

Hi again,. Sorry to insist again, Hi, but sorry to insist again, he/she should really be able to do this themselves, if they are going to be of any worth to a company, if a 'friend' has to hold their hand through even the most basic research, how are they going to cope working on a proper project in a foreign land. Get a UK/US job would be my advice. Google is your friend - http://www.infomine.com/countries/sweden.asp jobs and company info http://www.lundinmining.com/s/Home.asp http://www.dragon-mining.com.au/-Overview-.html I will leave you pass this information on to your friend who has zero internet or coommunication skills, but claims to have a degree of some type. |

wow, tough crowd here. sheesh.
i googled "mining boom sweden" and got a number of hits. Swedish Uranium Prospecting Boom Norway and Sweden want to take the mining boom even a step further. [re: Sweden]A mining boom and measures to get more jobs for more people can provide exciting figures in the years to come. so it's out there as a current phenomenon. i realize that the number of nutjobs slashing sweden makes a lot of us jaded and on our guard, but i think we can give someone asking for innocuous information the benefit of the doubt and reserve the barred teeth for those who have established the deserve for such. |

It's a fair point, but why can't said person or their friend do the most basic of google searching, then ask a valid question? Or why can't said person actually come on themselves. I hate this "I have a friend...", just ask a straight question and get a straight answer, but if this is too avoid doing even the basic research yourself first, then that is lazy. I googled Swedish Mining and the top link was one with jobs, it's not hard is it!? The companies I had heard of before, having studied geology and other earth science topics with the open university in the UK, I would be suprised if he/she got work here, the decent jobs, with the decent companies and matching pay go to those with outstanding qualifications and experience. |

i googled it too. got a couple of listings, but that's it. not sure what's so harmful with the OP asking for any information.
and why can't a friend help out a friend? maybe the friend isn't so comfortable writing in english? who knows? it's none of my business. the OP didn't start out saying "this is for a friend", it was in defense of getting slammed first thing with "you idiot". this forum gets loads of "can you give me more info". either you can or you can't and you reply or you don't. why can't we leave it at that? |

First of all, thank you for your comments and assistance.
Second... I am sorry but isn't this a forum to share or request information? I don't understand why the aggressive and arrogant position of some of the users. The thing is that I or he/she, friend, grandfather... who cares, already did a google search like your own, and yes it came out wit some results, but is it to stupid to consider that probably and I repeat, probably there are some people in the community that can understand Swedish and even have knowledge in the area and are willing to speak about it?! Yes I know that you probably have to be good in what you do to grasp a job opportunity around here, but to consider that people are dumb or idiot just for some of the reasons mentioned here, is a matter of stupidity just for itself. But of course not everyone can be a genius... |
