Just wondering if can one apply for the Citizenship after 4 and half years without a Sambo as a Non-EU ? Have PUT based on family ties. But, since an year living without a sambo. Any idea? Anyway the process takes more than a year I suppose.

The citizenship application doesn't take long at all. If you meet the criteria ( and I don't know what they are relative to your status) it is just a question of filling in the forms and the answer is usually back in a few weeks.

Usually what do they say in the answer? They reply "yes" or "no" ? That's it?
OK. Understood. So in the worst case what happens then?

You can apply at the earlier stage if you have a good reason and paper to prove it.
Example: if you work for an international company and traveling a lot within Europe and outside.

If you don't have job or not traveling that much then it would be hard. Afghans must wait 8 to 10 years to apply for it.
Where are you from?

All you have to do is go down to MV and find out when you are eligible to apply for citizenship. It all depends on your individual status etc.

When and if you have fulfilled the necessary criteria that the law says you must - you simply fill in the forms - dotting all i's and crossing all t's.

worst case scenario they say NO but to avoid that you simply follow the necessary criteria which you can find out NOW by asking MV what those criteria are relative to your current status. No one here can answer that as we don't know anything about you and how the law applies to you.

It's not a guessing game !

A few days ago a friend of mine asked MV the same question, MV told her that it is possible but her office must give her a supporting document to show she requires to travel. So it is possible if you have job which requires you to travel to remote offices in EU.

I will update once i hear from her, she has just applied and waiting for answer.

But, I lived here 8 years. I am from China. Initially I was a student. Later applied for sambo visa in May 2007 and got visa dated from September 2007. Then got some problem and got extended again and finally they gave me PUT in Dec 2010. When I asked in Solna they told to ask in Norrköping. And, you very well know Norrköping as it takes ages to get the answer from them. But, I will try to call them and see what they will answer. I worked since I am here. Paying 60 to 80 K as tax each year. But, in 2009 year the tax was less as I worked only for 3 months. As, due to crisis period I lost my job during that time. But, now I have a job.
What i want to do is just apply and see what happens. Heard that the decision will be quick. I think I need to call tax office and order my income for the last 3 years. That is the only papers they need I guess if I am not wrong. or something more.

You have PUT, you've been in sambo relationship for more than 2 years and you've liven in Sweden for longer than 3 years, so yes you can apply for Swedish citizenship. Actually you could have done that already years ago.

Try to apply here http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/5112.html and you will see based on your answers if you fulfill requirements for citizenship.

Edit: sorry missed to read that you are not living with your sambo anymore... Well maybe you can still fill out the application online and see if it will work.

of course none of the time you had a student permit is counted as this is specifically excluded from citizenship

I know student time is not counted. But, I will still apply and see what happens. Maybe if I am lucky they will grant me fast, as I pay a lot of tax each year. I have waited such a long due to not having a sambo now.
Sometime ago when I consulted the MB and asked "from what time can I count to my Citizenship"?. Then surprisingly the person at reception told me a date which was an year earlier when I was a student. Such are the stories of MB. When I call now then all phones are busy. I already got my papers from tax office and my employer. I will apply in 2 days and see what happens.

OK. Got my Citizenship last week. I got it exactly after 7 months of applying. I applied After 4 years 4 months something like that. I already thought that processing time takes up-to an year. So, I applied earlier. After 2 weeks it will be 5 years of stay in Sweden for me. I have been living in Sweden with Sambo Visa and PUT. But, Sambo left me after I got my PUT. I thought to wait until 5 years and apply. But, applied earlier anyway. Now, I am Swedish. I suppose each case is different.
