There are 2 options I know of:

-you have a sambo stating in written that he's going to be suporting you
-you have a permanent job (to get PN)

They have changed the regulation this year. As EU person you do not need to
be registered with MV before applying for PN (and to get it)
Mine came in less than 2 weeks

knagle, have you tried talking to recruitment companies? there are also recruitment meetings that are listed at www.ams.se (enter the side - click on "För arbetssökande" click on "visa aktuella rekryteringsträffar")
another idea is to try to teach english at some school if you want to, you could also check the following site:

http://www.arbetsformedlingen.se/For-arbet...jobbsajter.html

you need a personnummer to open a swedish bank account

best of luck!

I understand completely, It's awfully difficult, do you have your person number now? Or are you, like me, struggling with this? I think the best thing for me to do, is to ... (show full quote)

No, no, i don't have it, i applied for he "temporary" one, no reply yet... But as we said, it's only for tax purposes but it doesnt entitle you to get medical treatment or SFI or to get a bank account etc...
So, what happened in the end at SV, Im assuming that you didnt get this temp number, but what did they advise to do?

Yes JulieLou! I did get dealt with a " numb-nut" ! They denied it on the grounds that I didnt provide enough documentation at the time I applied for the pers ... (show full quote)

That's where you've gone wrong. You should have said you were here to live with your sambo. But to be honest, that sounds more like the info you would have to give MV, not SV. Once you're registered with MV, SV shouldn't be that much hassle.

For the avoidance of doubt, tell them you are here to live with your sambo, and don't mention anything about work. Also, tell them that as an EU citizen, all you legally have to show them is your passport, and that you will be taking legal advice if they don't get their arses in gear.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat Knagle, (as are many I'm sure). Just wishing you best of luck! And if it's restaurant work you're looking for, it's almost spring so many places will be opening soon - so hopefully that's comforting!

I've been here for 2 months. I'm trying to look for work in my field so it's a bit trickier. I've had a few interviews but nothing so far. Have you tried looking for retail work as well? This is a good website for it http://www.modeindustrin.se/

knagle, it says on the mv site that as a sambo you should apply as non EU. Not easy to navigate or atleast wasn't in 2003 when my sambo moved here but my mum has worked with immigrants so told me what to do and we checked ther site and he sent the form in already from the UK.

Nasty old women, well you get them everywhere. Just ignore and hopefully next time will be better.

Thanks Streja. Ill let you guys know how I get on tomorrow, I've everything all ready for the morning including my "argument" (if needs be perhaps!) about how unhelpful and unknowledgable the previous lady who " assisted" me in SV was last time. Lets see tomorrow If someone who knows how to do their job will be dealt to me.
