Now I´m not a particular skynews fan , but I will go there to see what , if any interesting breaking news is errr breaking.
So now I have just viewed skynews only to see no less that 13 links or articles on Houston we have a problem & she was hardly a legend. |

...just a tad uncharitable surely? I didn't much like her music, but most of the networks I've seen have extensive coverage of Whitney Houston's death.
I'm not much of a pie-in-the-Sky news fan myself either |

I find their Iphone app to be a joke. At least two days behind what others are.

Well BBC NEWS for the last 2 hours only mentions WH in the rolling headlines, for live coverage it is 100% BAFTA's
first thing it was 100% repeat after repeat of the death of Whitney Huston Meanwhile Police are tear-gassing protesters in Athens, Proposals of a UN force in Syria AND Kenny Dalgliesh issues an apology regarding Suarez. Most important of all Sweden beat Finland 3-1 to take the trophy in the Sweden Hockey Games |

With regard to the death of Whitney Houston, it strikes me as it takes little to "shock" the entertainment world any longer. Now I don't want to come across as uncharitable or in any way sociologically remote from what is after all the demise of a fellow human being, but the passing of a troubled singer with a long and well publicised history of chronic substance abuse cannot really be such a surprise to anyone!
When, for example Amy Winehouse (allegedly) drank herself to death were you "shocked"? I can tell you for once that I wasn't. This is not to say that either her or Whitney's early death was an inevitability, but it was one of the most likely of the possible scenarios which could have transpired. One can only genuinely be surprised or shocked at such an event if it is most likely that someone with their problems is invariably expected to live a long and healthy life. No, this is not the case and I find the expressions of faux "surprise" and "shock" being bandied around by the great and good of the entertainment world rather simplistically naive and somewhat sickening. It makes one wonder what other earth-shattering "revelations" are likely to spew forth... Bruce Willis loosing his hair perhaps, or the admission that, just maybe, underneath it all Tom Cruise is a bit of a dick... |
