Hi there,
I'm currently in an ongoing process of trying to move to Stockholm/Uppsala, and wondering if there are any support work agencies in Sweden that cater to the needs of English-speaking people living in the country? I have experience as a support worker for people with brain injury and neurological disorders (specifically a Community Rehabilitation Support Worker). I'm interested to know whether there were any companies that related in particular to providing a similar service to clients who are not able to speak Swedish either because of their condition or due to belonging to a family that have moved to sweden from another English speaking country. In conversation with Swedish friends I am aware that a support work post is often referred to as 'care-taking'. As yet I've not had much luck finding any leads on this, but if anyone is able to give me some pointers re the first/best place to look it would be very much appreciated! As ever, apologies if this information has already been posted elsewhere. Nic |

Hi Nic,
I'm not really sure what you're after- is it the job called personlig assistent in Swedish? There is a website with a forum that might be of interest to you in that case: http://www.personligassistent.com/forum/ There is even an English speaking forum! Hope that helps, Cheers ChocOwl |

Sorry for the delay replying, thanks for the link though, very helpful indeed! I went to a recruitment event in Stockholm too and they suggested private clients and/or companies might be the place to look for people wanting native English speakers as Personal Assistants. Might be some detective work involved in this, but I'll post anything I find here in case others find it useful.

I think that you will need to do some detective work
I don't think the demand for purely English speaking personal assistants is big - in many cases the personal assistant is hired within the family/circle of friends - so it would depend on there being a specific client wanting an English speaking assistant Learning Swedish would massively increase your employability in the field |
