Hi Locallers,

I have asked migration board one question for 4 times and I have had four different answers. It is quite amazing.

Today, I got a response to a question I asked (thru their contact form - it takes about 1 month to get an answer).

My question was, does my work permit (permanent employment) count towards swedish citizenship?

Today's answer : from migratiosverket
' You can count the time when you have had a work permit if the residence is founded. If you look in your past decisions, she will stand there on the settlement was founded. In order to apply for Swedish citizenship, you must first obtain a permanent residence permit in Sweden.'

The officer is a Swede, so I guess she was doing some direct translation here...what does she mean by 'founded'? Anyone can guess?

Has anyone here gone through the work permit route and had Swedish Citizenship after 5 years (4 years work permit + 1 year permanent residence)???

What word do i need to check in my decision letter to identify that my work permit and resident permit is 'founded' or my settlement is 'founded'?

I have to go again through the contact form (on their website) if i want to ask another question...I am so p****s**d off...

My guess is "founded on" = SV "baserat på" = EN "based on"

So it could read: You can count the time during which you have had a work permit if the residence permit is based on the work permit. If you look in your past decisions, it will state what the residence permit was based on.

I guess that's still gobbledegook

They are saying that it depends on the decisions made on the UTs and it will be written on them, and that you must have PUT before you can apply.

Not all UTs count. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing this bit of info with us. It seems a different answer than some. Hopefully I'll have good news myself wink.gif
