(edit title) Instead of Forex? GBP straight into Swedish account Options

Hej there. I'm new to the site and new to Sweden. I now have a personnummer and bank account with Nordea. I transferred the majority of my savings to a friends account over here from the UK but I have a couple hundred pound left that I'd like to put in the bank and from my experience the banks tend to have a better exchange rate than Forex. So what I'm asking is that is it possible to put GBP into my account which they will that exchange and if it is, is there any charges?

if it's so little, why not just spent it here using a uk card. I get a decent exchange rate with the Natwest when I do this.

Second that. That is what I used to do when I had most of my money in USD here in the UK, and I get good rates now when I use my UK debit card in Sweden. It's much less of a hassle, imho.

With the pound running at around 10.5-10.75 using a UK card for purchases is the best idea instead of transferring the money over. You can also hang onto it in your UK bank and wait for even better times

Only when the rate goes high is it really advantageous to transfer - say £1=15SEK. Only then do you really gain.

Your account here in Sweden will have an IBAN number, if You don't see it on any online facility from the bank, it should be on the papers. If not ask them. You can transfer the GBP direct from Your bank in the UK to the IBAN number. Of-course there may be transaction charge, and it should tell You the rate immediately.

The account in UK also has an IBAN number, if You dont know that, ask the bank what it is.
