Hi all

I have a Master of Engineering (Hons) 1st Class in Civil and Structural Engineering from Manchester University.

Got a new pile of business cards at work today (I work in Stockholm, swedish company, swedish clients) and I'm described as "civilingenjör" on them. Does anybody know if I'm OK to use this title instead of the British one?

Cheers

I'm not 100% sure but I think that sounds about right. On my cards I have the english title of BEng Electronic Engineering, it keeps things easy.

Yes, it is pretty much equivalent. However, Civilingenjör is a protected title. I would simply go with Master of Engineering on the business card, or your work title. Most Swedes only use their work title on their cards, not their academic title.

Thanks for the help, in the end I went with Master of Engineering. Looks really weird to me but I guess it'll wrk better than anything else.

My business cards have an English side, and a Swedish side. Someone above me decided to translate my English engineering degree into the equivalent Swedish degree for my card. So what reads on my card today isn't correct (ie the name of a qualification which I don't have), but it's something that Swedish clients and colleagues can relate to. Saves having to explain things.
