It depends on what your long term plans are

SFI is an introductions course that covers primary school level Swedish - years 1-6 in the Swedish school system whereas SAS covers high school level Swedish adapted to the needs of non native speakers
- SAS grund - years 7-9
- SAS gymnasiet levels A & B - years 10-12

If you want to go to university you must have SAS gymnasiet level and sometimes professional jobs want to se evidence that you can read, write, speak at high school level

So it depends on your plans

As a slight aside (and apologies to the OP if I'm derailing a bit before their question is fully answered), how do these levels work for Folkuniversitet (or if you learn Swedish outside the SFI/SAS framework). Also, Puffin, do you know if it is possible to pass out of SFI and start immediately at SAS? Not sure if I could or not, but it would be interesting to know...

SFI D equates to B1

SAS grund - in the middle

SAS gymnasiet B/TISUS C1 - however for Uni you need to take TISUS as a C1 course is not recognised

Svenska B - probably C1/c2

Not quite sure what you mean - most people move directly from SFI D --> SAS grund - it is the norm - but can depend a little on the kommun and how they organise studies/courses. I remember that my kommun did not always offer a SAS grund every term

Or do you mean jumping directly from SFI D to SAS gymnasiet - I believe that it is possible for people who get a really high grade on the SFI exam that you can jump directly - although I have known a few people do this it has not worked out well for many of them - many struggled on gymnasiet and just among the people I knew around 50% dropped out

Brilliant, thanks for that!

Sorry, I meant that I already speak some (a decent amount) of Swedish, and was wondering how much it is possible to test out of, if anything.

If you go to komvux you kan tentera a course - do the exam and get a grade without the course - usually a costs a little money though

It was popular for some people at my komvux to boost their gymnasiet grades by tentera-ing their own langauge such as English/French/German etc to boost gpa
