Hi all,
I have a credit card with Handelsbanken for several years. I would like to apply for another new credit card after living here for several years. Can any of you recommend a credit card with low interest rates? Are there any that can be applied on line or do I have to go in person (say at a bank), start another bank account and then be able to apply for a credit card? Are there any online banks in Sweden? Those of you who have credit cards, which ones do you recommend? Thanks. |

Take a look on Compricer to compare cards: http://www.compricer.se/kreditkort/
Also different cards offer discount on fuel, shopping etc. For example: if you shop in ICA their card 'maybe' better for you etc. I tend to use my Statoil Gold card as I get 1% cashback and a small fuel discount. Most can be applied for online and many have no annual charges. |

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club cards are widely accepted. As someone who currently has a Diners Club, I would like to disagree with the statement that it is widely accepted. It's very hit-and-miss but mostly, it's a miss. Amex is a little better. But for wide acceptance, Visa or Mastercard are really the way to go. |

+1 on the Diners Card... very hit and miss. Widely accepted in the US but not across Europe. I only use to gather SAS airmile points when I rent from SIXT in Germany.

Watch out for Amex or Diners being the only card, if You go for them. It is becoming more and more common that Vårdcentralen start to refuse to take those.
And some of them even now have online booking where You must enter card details in advance, of-course Amex and Diners may not be accepted. |
