Renting in Skåne/Öresund region

Looking for attainable location

So later in the year I'm moving to Skåne to live with my flickvän. She's from the Kristianstad side of Skåne and I really like it round there, but we figured that I would have a much better chance of getting work down in the south western side, within the Malmö, Lund and Köpenhamn sphere of influence.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips on good places to live that would:

a. be within realistic commuting distance of aforementioned 3 cities

but

b. provide a realistic chance of a getting an affordable (which to me means around 5000-7000kr/mnth) first hand apartment to rent

It feels like a bit of a rock and a hard place situation at the moment, because Lund and Malmö themselves seem to have the impossibly long waiting lists, and the smaller places outside seem to have very small rental markets and very few properties available.

I live outside Trelleborg and there are a lot of people in this area who commute to Malmö, Lund and Copenhagen and the jobs market locally isn't too bad either depending on your skills.

There are quite a few commercial landlords in the town and it's normally not a problem to find a place to rent through them.

Thanks Gordy, I've looked into Trelleborg and it seems like a pretty good option.

One potential left-field alternative might be to move to Denmark. Does anyone have experience of the Danish property market and know if it's any more fluid and accessible than the Swedish one, particularly when it comes to first hand renting?

I'm not able to contribute much, other than to say that I'm currently looking for somewhere to rent in Kristianstad, whilst I do my MA. Still not 100% that I'll go, but I'd love to hear any insider tips you may have smile.gif

Best wishes!
