Yorkshireman,

The UK still has the "Driving without due care and attention" law, and Sweden has something hänsynslös körning lag or something like that. Just seems the police don't bother using it.

Gamla,

You shouldn't drink and drive - you might spill it and that is alkoholmissbruk which is illegal !

QUOTE (dave.smith @ 27.Jul.2012, 07:43 AM) *
Katja is no idiot. I would trust her and her PhD and Masters more than talk from around the barbecue or office water cooler.Personally I find texting whilst driving quite usef ... (show full quote)

Yes Dave Smith. We value your opinion because of your admirable ability to post all your personal problems on a forum.
We have seen posts about the staff you hire, the wife you don't trust, the child you shouldn't have had and even your dog. Each of them being betrayed by your poor judgement and lack of common sense.

Your future looks to be one where you get wrapped around a tree. That will be a relief for everyone, except the tree.

That's called an ad hominem attack. It means that you have no valid argument to add to the discussion, so instead of attacking the points that I have made, you lower yourself to a personal attack against me. Well done.

You are jealous that I have been successful, where you probably live lagom, on handouts or meagre pay. But I don't wish death on you as you have on me. No, I rather hope that you stay alive and live your whole life in the same poor, miserable and jealous state that you are in now.

Just because some morons can't walk and chew gum at the sanme time, let's ban walking and chewing gum, someone might trip, or walk into a bicycle causing an injury after all...

If you have anything useful to add, Hamsterdam, then do it. Otherwise please let those wishing to discuss the topic rather than spew vitriol do so.

Watch this one. The Swedish minister or transport doesn't think it is dangerous to text while driving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXZVKuNJlys

So I guess that they will soon need to ban *all* mobile phone use when driving?

The first day I was in Sweden I saw police drive by while chatting on their mobile phones. I was very surprised.

Here is the report in PDF:

http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&a...nQA&cad=rja

It says that SMS texting while driving has a negative influence on driving skills, but she goes on to state that it can't be proved that it causes higher traffic crash rates.

Distinguishing absence of evidence from evidence of absence is something you'd expect a PhD graduate to be able to do, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

It is a big no when you text while driving. A driver must be responsible enough to follow the rules and regulations in driving to prevent accidents.
