I was driving down a quiet 70 road outside Kristianstad this morning and I was caught speeding by a mobile camera. I dot usually speed, so it was a bit of a shock. I had noticed the van parked up about 100 meters away and had reduced my speed from 80 down to 70 and thought that I would be OK, but as I came closer to the van I was flashed. I was driving my company van at the time. What happens next?
First of all, I have been told that although I got flashed it dosent necessarily mean that I was caught speeding, but I doubt that is right. Secondly, I'd assume that any ticket would be sent to my employeer to whom the van is registered - but isnt there something about the fine being against the driver and not the vechicle? Thirdly, in other parts of Europe speeding attracts penalty points - what is the case here in Sweden? I have a Swedsih driving licence. |

First of all, I have been told that although I got flashed it dosent necessarily mean that I was caught speeding, but I doubt that is right. It depends - there needs to be a clear photo that identifies you and the car registration - sometimes the pictures are poor quality and no fine is ever issued QUOTE Secondly, I'd assume that any ticket would be sent to my employeer to whom the van is registered - but isnt there something about the fine being against the driver and not the vechicle? As you were in a company car you mauywell get away with it - it depends on company policy - the company is under no obligation to report who was driving QUOTE Thirdly, in other parts of Europe speeding attracts penalty points - what is the case here in Sweden? I have a Swedsih driving licence. currentlt you lose your licence for 3 speeding offences within 1 year or 4 speeding offences within 2 years If you are caught doing serious speeding you lose your licence at once http://www.trafikjuristen.se/foretaget/Tra...stplanschA3.pdf |

Thanks for that Puffin. Can you tell me if it is simply an issue of paying a fine or will it involve a court appearence?

It is only a court matter if you go fast enough to lose you license, i.e. over 100 on a 70 stretch.
For lower speeds you will just get an invoice in the mail... if they can identify you as the driver... |
