Hello,
Need some advise here. I bought 2 new bikes last month, monark and crescent costing 8000 sek. They got stolen from our building bike park, They were insured but when icalled the insurance company , they said they would just pay 1500 sek and the cost of the bike will be paid by my home insurance company. But I have no home insurance . I have already reported the theft to the police. Is there any way I can get my money back. The cycle store told me that I will get my money back when they sold but now they say that I should have had home insurance. I live in andrahands apartment,so I do not have home insurance on my name. Thanks. Animesh |

Seems like you're out of luck since you don't have home insurance, cause bikes are usually covered under home insurance.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can get home insurance even though you have a 2nd hand contract, cause it would still cover YOUR belongings. |

Nope. It is lost, since no insurance.
In fact, whoever sublet their apartment to You made a mistake themselves! They should have included in the contract that You had to have home insurance to rent the apartment, since not doing so has exposed them to a higher degree of risk also. |

Yes the lock was fastened against the front tyre and the parking hook. no other place to lock the frame
And bloody thieves removed the tyres from teh frame and took the bikes. Monday morning , we saw 2 nice tyres locked and bikes were gone .. buhuhuhuu subuk subuk (indian style of crying loud |

Next time, get yourself a Kryptonite lock and lock the bike to something robust. Used it 5+ years in London without having a bike stolen.

it's a tough less to learn. Next time remove the front wheel yourself, turn bike around, lock both wheels and frame to post etc.. or take into apartment.

Keep a look out on Blocket as that is where many stolen bikes will come up for sale.

See here: http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/news/2004/09/64987 There are much better locks available that are truly unbreakable without massive equipment (look for titanium locks). ~~~PDX~~~ |

Krypton it's locks are pants ... Anyone who falls for their marketing is a muppet.
Sometimes if you pay by credit card you can find it comes with a limeted form of insurance ... Always worth a try. Ps... Crescent bikes are not good either. Stay away from them next time. |
