What do you think about Swedish Skier Anja Pärson:
Sure, we can live and let live. And what her and her GIRLFRIEND get up to is between the two of them as long as they keep it private and legal. But, is it okay for lesbians to raise children? Today she is screaming from the rooftops and broadcasting the fact that she is going to be a mother to the world. By falling in love with another woman has she opted out of a normal family relationship? Can you have your cake and eat it? Should she be telling the world? Is this her need to stay limelight now her skiing career is over? How will the combined fact of fame and 2 lesbian mothers and no father affect the kid? What do you think? Most people in Sweden are delighted about the news today (Anja is preggers!) and don't bat an eyelid about the fact she is in a lesbian relationship. My gut feeling tells me the folks back home (UK) would not be so relaxed about this. |

Where and how does one acquire the "goods" to achieve such a thing?
If they have a falling out, can one claim maternal/paternal responsibility and claim support from the other? Whose 'eggs" were used? Will the partner, at some time get "preggo" too? Too many questions???? |

Good luck to her and her partner.
Can't really see the issue with it - there's a lot of pretty shitty heterosexual parents destroying their children's lives, so clearly the sexuality of the parent doesn't automatically make us any morally better to bring up babies. Plenty of single mothers out there bringing up children well without father figures and no doubt these two women will have fathers, male friends and family who will help shape their child's outlook. |

But, is it okay for lesbians to raise children? Of course it is. My gut feeling tells me the folks back home (UK) would not be so relaxed about this. The UK is an arch-conservative, sexually repressive regime, no wonder your folks wouldn't be relaxed about this. |

. My gut feeling tells me the folks back home (UK) would not be so relaxed about this. you're maybe correct, but as she is here is Sweden she is just stating what the situation was and is, when asked a question in an interview. Better to just be open and honest, it gives the press zero mileage and there is no place for speculation when mini Anya starts to grow and show. I''ve always liked her style of skiing, kind of hoping my daughter develops a passion for it, all brute force and no fear!! The fact that you consider this an issue worthy of a new thread, perhaps says something about you though?! |

... though I must add, the people in London are fine with Elton John's and David Furnish's baby.

You are a small minded little bigot. First of all your small mind relates sex and sexual preference to that of being a good mum. How about thinking of love and care and wanting to nurture life. You don't choose your sexuality. You are born with it. Get an education and learn about X and Y chromosomes. You are judging this woman from your own perception of how you would think, and not how her child might think. There is no more percentage of gay people in the world now, than there has ever been. It is just that its more acceptable to be frank about it. Who cares if she tells the world? What does it matter? I guess it just makes you uncomfortable for some reason. Why is that? |

There is a theory that the siblings of a gay person have more children than average, family pressure etc from their own parents possibly.. the theorists believed that this enabled the genetics traits within families to continue, otherwise in theory if there was no reproduction etc . Didn't read it full, but I'm sure its online somewhere.
I think the fact OP is a fox news fan says it all! |

Hey!
You left yourself wide open for that one! These questions can only arise in a society that has forgotten what got them here today. P/S: Hide your pearls... |

Strange how people misread stuff.
I merely asked some questions about how people here feel about it. Judging by the answers people here are "Swedeified" which is what I thought. Its good that living in Sweden can open ones eyes to alternatives that one never saw in ones homeland. As a matter of fact I am pleased for her. However I am trying to get an SD site removed and they have published some pretty damming remarks today. Your answers prove what I thought, that Sweden is a society of tolerance and acceptence, something SD voter need to wake up to. |
