Hi everyone,
the forum contains a number of discussions like "which bank is the best?" - "bank X is the best!" - "bank Y is shit!" with little to no useful information. I am currently looking to choose the right bank for myself and it's incredibly tiresome to go through (sometimes only Swedish) descriptions and pricelists of so many institutions. I assume that most of you will agree. Is there any website or magazine etc. that offers some sort of (automated) comparison? For example, I would like to find a combination of - a free/cheap lönekonto - free transactions within the EY - a free credit card - and perhaps some sort of savings account with a minimal return (E.g., I know by now that GE Money Bank offers free credit cards, but I haven't found a free lönekonto yet that I could combine with it.) Any idea where to look? |

Länsförsäkringar was the only bank that didn't freak out because I am not Swedish.
And they are always voted Swedish bank of the year. |

Afaik, all lönekontor at all banks are free. ATM cards usually have a yearly fee, but not the account itself. One bank had a card free to use only at their ATMs, was it SEB? - cant remember. Or you could choose not to have an ATM card. Not so convenient but doable.
Internetbanking is also free. But they charge a yearly fee for paying invoices through internet - which is something you would probably want to do. |

Try Forex Bank
- Free lönekonto (2,3%) - Free internetbank - Free debit card - Credit card SEK 230 If you need a credit card, I strongly recommend the OKQ8 Bank. - Free credit card - 1% shopping bonus! (e.g. buy a train ticket for SEK 1000 and get SEK 10 bonus) |

Handelsbanken is the only "major" bank that offers a frikort.
Combine it with a lönekonto, it might be the best offer. http://www.handelsbanken.se/shb/INeT/ICent...BB?Opendocument Ingen årsavgift (No Yearly Fees) Du betalar ingen årsavgift för ditt kort. |

After going through this comparison: bankforsakring.konsumenternas.se/Lana--Betala/Betala-med-kort/Valja-kontokort/Jamforelse-kontokort/
I think I will choose a combination of Danske Bank + perhaps GE Money Bank. I would definitely take FOREX, but if I understood correctly, I will need eID for that, and I fear to get that would take awhile. It will be more convenient to just go to a Danske Bank branch, I guess. |

Is there anyone who can let me know which banks allow prospective customers to set up bank accounts without a swedish ID card? I have a person number, residence permit and a job. I just havent obtained a Swedish ID card and I fear it would take too long to get one as I need an account now to receive my salary.

On a side note ... I got a generic letter from SEB the other day regarding changes of terms of service etc.
But was very surprised to see that on one side it was written in Swedish, and on the other it was in English. I think this says allot regarding their growing market of non swedish speaking customers, and how they are looking to serve them - which I applaud. |

I was denied a bank account by Danske Bank because I do not yet have a personnummer (only samordningsnummer at the moment - and I am an EU citizen with an indefinite work contract). I do understand they want to be able to conduct a credit check; but apparently it's not even possible to open account with some limitations, e.g. no negative balance, even though that would eliminate every risk. They did however offer me a savings account... That level of service is just fucking ridiculous.

Once again, one does not need a personnummer to open a bank account in Sweden. Your wallet was just too thin for them to bother...

I applied for a bank account with Danske Bank (twice, two different methods/types of accounts) and was denied both times, seemingly because I do not have a job/income.
I have been in Sweden for 6+ months, have my Perssonnummer, IDkort, and filled out that I would put a few thousand kronor into the account. Seems like a viscous cycle of not being able to get a bank because of not having a current income and then not having a place to deposit income once getting a job. I was told this might be a bigger issue with Danske Bank and to check another bank, any suggestions? Tack! Meg ~Something Swedish ~ |

Once again, one does not need a personnummer to open a bank account in Sweden. Your wallet was just too thin for them to bother... I checked back with the hotline. It seems to be a Danske Bank policy, even though it may not be legally required to have a personnummer. And they didn't even take the time to check my "wallet" or salary, even though I went there twice (having my employment contract with me). |

QUOTE That level of service is just fucking ridiculous. With an attitude like that, I wouldnt want you as a customer either. If you want a Swedish bank account, certainly without a full PN, its a case of finding someone who will take you, not vice versa. They are doing an on the spot risk assessment on someone they cant credit check. And take a Swede along who can personally vouch for your identity. Someone else has posted on here that that latter recommendation is ridiculous in their opinion. But hey, if you want a bank account do it their way, or do without. |

Guys , one thing i feel it important especially for people who transfer their money for their private and personal issues. When i came here , i noticed that there is shortage of competion "konkurrenskraftig" and diversity for Exchange companies If you want to use Exchange or transfer services This will be done via some bad transfer money companies belong to some communities or via Money Gram or Western Union Wich have all a common as they are much much expensive and their services are basics compared to wahat i will tell you.. According to my experience for the countries i visited or settled there is international Exchange company Has branches in all over the world and Unfortunately it has only branch in UK and IRELAND only in EUROPE And its web site http://www.uaeexchange.com/ So , we need this company in our life here in SWEDEN , I promise all , if this company opened here , like (MALMÖ,STOCKHOLM ,LUND ,GOTHENBERG) No body will use another Exchange companies if they feel the much differencies in BOTH SERVICES and COST. Just see the web site and see their branches and their services,, Thanks |
