Hello thelocal community!

I love this community, even some of the trollers can be brilliant to read!

I am a citizen of Britain and have applied this week to register my right of residence with MV (starting a branch of my company in sweden so everything about my work is registered to a UK address)

Yesterday I got a letter, one piece of paper saying that under the EU working regulations I have right of residence and do not need uppehålls- och arbetstillstånd, my question is: "is this classed as a right of residence registration certificate or is there something more I should wait for before registering with the SV?"

Just want to make sure everything is right before registering with SV

Cheers everyone!

Ben

As far as I know, that's all you need...

its all you need- legally all you need to do is register- and this is your receipt.
mirgation have tried to bend the rules the last few years as regards eu citizens, but a couple of weeks back the eu threatended them with a huge fine, so now they have finally stopped trying to trick eu citizens that they need to do more (eg prove they have a job or can support themselves etc)

Really? Have you got a link to more info? Any idea what form needs to be filled out?

(I have an English friend who got rejected by MV earlier this year)

What precisely do you mean? Treaty rights have to be exercised under one of four conditions, and countries are allowed to check that this is the case for people living longer than 90 days. Some countries (i.e. the UK) do not require you to register your right of residence, but some do...

Yeah, I too remember reading a story that the the EU had said that Sweden was working in such ways that hinders the free movement of EU citizens via its rules regarding applications for a personal number. I can't seem to find the story though.

just fill in http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/1231_en.html

the only legal requirment is that you fill in the form (in other words you register)
the laws are on the eures/eu website, will track them down and post them up later.
theres always some wiseass on here who thinks differently refering to the mirgation website which is badly updated in sections at a time and contradicts itself in places (and confuses everyone)

When you fill in the form above you will get a letter back from migration stating as an eu citizen you do not require a residence permit under eu law. (myslef and 8 co-workers have done this)
the only time you may want to get a residence permit is if your in sweden more than 5 years you can apply for preminant residency.

I'm a UK lad and I've just moved over to Sweden to start work with a company. I'm just having problems with this. I applied on the system at the end of may. migrationsverket email and website said the process would take 3-4 weeks, which I thought would be perfect timing, I'd have my RoR document waiting for me when I arrived. it wasn't. 7 weeks later no decision has been made according to the website. MV aren't replying to any emails, and after being on hold on the phone for 2.5 hours today I was told "well the process can take up to 3 months". So I'm potentially left stranded for another 5-6 weeks waiting to find out if I'm even approved.
Very odd considering I'm an EU citizen working in Sweden and wanting to pay tax and get on with contributing to the country.
All I want is to be able to get a personnummer so I can get on with life.
