Hey,
Congrats on your upcoming engagement! How exciting! I actually just finished doing research in this area- my boyfriend and I went engagement ring shopping to find the perfect ring for our special occasion. After a lot of comparing prices, we discovered that buying an engagement ring online is actually a lot cheaper than buying in stores. There are some great, reputable online engagement ring retailers that have great selections of settings and diamonds. And of course, they deliver almost everywhere in the world! We went with James Allen- a site that my cousin had recommended to us enthusiastically. James Allen was a pleasure to work with. We were so surprised since our previous online shopping experiences had been pretty miserable. We ordered a simple solitaire engagement ring, which was well within our price range. I am so happy with the ring and the customer service reps we worked with. I could not have asked for a better experience! As far as how much to spend, I hate to sound cliché- but there is no right amount. You can spend whatever you are comfortable with. My only advice to you is not to overextend yourself. While engagement rings are important, you should not go into debt to buy a ring. Let me know if you have any more questions…Hope this was a bit helpful! |

If you're in Stockholm or can get there, you really should check out NK. Their jewelry section is really nice / very chic and they have a quite a few rings there that could work as engagement rings.
Last time I was there, they had some nice Bulgari rings and bands that were around 10-15k kr. They're not traditional engagement rings with large diamond solitaires, but with a budget of only 10,000kr they may not be a bad way to go if you're looking for something "chic", especially since there's not really a tradition here of giving diamond engagement rings. |

First off, Ayn Rand is the best. Second, I was in the same boat as you before I got engaged. Our budget was a little over 9,000 SEK. My sister-in-law recommended buying online because it is much more affordable so we looked into White Flash, Blue Nile and James Allen. My (now) husband went with James Allen in the end because they had the right quality matched with the right price. They also had real photos of the diamonds, which actually turned out to be very comforting.
This is the ring I got and a similar diamond (plus they ship to Sweden for free!) http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings...ing-17001w.html http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI2-E...ond-1504009.asp Hope this helps! |
