Hi everyone and thanks for your time and any kind of help/info!

I am a MA student in Cinema, at the Stockholm University, starting my second year this fall. Now, I have been really struggling to find any kind of part time job in Sthlm - I am willing to work anything, since the tuition fees are very high (I am outside of European Union, although my country is in Europe) and the government made some changes with scholarships, so I couldn't get it for the first year, although I had all the requires for it more than fulfilled (read, the country is poor, so they can give scholarships only to those who have someone in high places).

My parents are finding it hard to pay for my living expenses, fee and rent (I was able to stay in the student housing for only one year, although my MA studies last 2 years).

I wanted to ask someone to give me advice, where can I get more info for the part time jobs? I have my personnumer, I speak Italian, English, Serbian, but don't speak Swedish that well.

Thank you very much for any kind of insight!!

Without a basic Swedish, this will be so hard. Please look at other int. students. Somehow and at some level you should learn some Swedish.

Don't bother mate, go home. I'm in the same situation as you are. If you're Serbian, like I think you are, then hello neighbour, I'm from Romania.

I'm exactly in the same position. After a year, my parents are really struggling and keep telling me to find a job there because they can't take the burden anymore.

I tried all last year to find a job, whilist learning Swedish because that was what everyone was telling me, "Learn Swedish and it will be better" so I did, at an acceptable level.

But you know what? Swedes look at us as sub-humans. As former communist states, they look at us like we're some sort of inferior human beings. In my case, they don't know that I haven't even known communism, I was born after its fall.

Long story short: If you find yourself in the position of an employer choosing between a qualified you and an unqualified Swede, it will always choose the unqualified Swede.

It makes sense to me, from a nationalistic point of view, but from an economical point of view, I'm stunned every day that Sweden is still running strong, even though this kind of things happens.

They must be doing something good, so who am I to criticize? I'll just keep trying and trying to get a job. But in the end, I think I'll finish my studies and just leave Sweden for a country that can hire me, and that way, Sweden would have invested a lot in me (I'm not paying fees) and then lose a well-educate young professional. Maybe they feel better taking in refugees and paying them to finish SFI. I can't deal with that sort of logic.

I'm receiving job offers from Germany, and I haven't even finished college. Hell, I don't even speak German. I'll crush anyone who dares to speak bad of Germany and how it's conquering Europe and subjugating it, etc.

Germany actually has a job market and a housing market.

Your best bet would be to make friends and ask them if they know of somewhere to work. Do you have any friends, family, classmates, teachers or someone else like that? With no ties to the country, no previous experience, can`t speak the language and only educated in arts you are not exactly the most qualified. No matter what country you are in.

Is that so, all Swedes do that ey? Swedes just roams the streets, look at others and think they are sub-humans? You really think that?

At the same time you will fight to the death in defense of the germans who actually have a history of subjugating others. You make no sense at all.

What work should a person with no ties to the country, no network, no previous experience, can`t speak the language and only educated in arts be entitled to? Theres nothing wrong with picking up trash, doing dishes or clean.

Thank you all a lot for the answers!

I am from Serbia and I've met Serbs here, who lived for quite a while, but they seem to know about job opportunities here as much as I do...

I've been studying Swedish on my own, but it's quite difficult, because of all the University literature, exams and my MA thesis. I've been working as a film editor/director of photography for my friends Production here in Sthlm, but since the Production is still in the embryonic stage of development, I am not getting paid for grafting.

The job seek looks so unpromising, I would settle for the dish washing, but it seems that none of the restaurants are offering any spare places...

I suggest do you own thing in Photography. Post ad about your service to photography wedding, pregnant couples, children and family. As an MA in Cinema, I bet you have a press pass to go to event, why do not you go to events to take photos from these events and sell it to newspapers and tv station. Freelance! I know it is not steady income, but it will help a bit.

Definitely start up your own thing even if you keep looking for a job.. that way you keep busy and you are more likely to get some jobs going. Post ads on the local and do some pro-bono work before you get your references going..
