From the front page of The Local, the Swedish Institute has a little box for 'Highlights from Follow Sweden' with the Swedish word of the day - - - - lång

Well, that word surely sums up the days here. They have used that word as 'word of the day' for about the past year, so by that token, a day is nearly 9000 hours long. Way beyond the 24 that we simple mortals are used to. Well done the Swedish Institute. There we have the answer to Swedish prosperity, since we work by day !!! tongue.gif

What say you other Forumites ? ? ?

PS Regarding the subtitle, The Local said that Lång was too short, hence the 'padding' laugh.gif angry.gif

And heaven help you if you use too many emoticons - - -

Hisingen - often translated by Swedes into Hising Island, the 'island' created by the dividing of Göta Älv at Kungälv into Göta Älv and Nordre Älv. In other words a geographic location - well known to Bohusläningar.

As to hiss - ingen, only someone trying to be amusing could come up with that one, since clearly the spelling is way off - not having the second 's' in the hiss. But then, we all have our off days, one way or another, don't we. Perhaps over in Jönköping the island of Hisingen is a little less known. Maybe it gets mixed up with the 'house mill' that exists over there, if you will excuse the expression. tongue.gif
