I am planning to buy a new laptop for my birthday at the end on the month, probably from Webhallen with a budget of around 5 000:-. The thing is I have thought about buying direct from UK, and shipping it here as the software (i.e. the OS) in in English, but I prefer to have a Swedish keyboard as it is better arranged then the British set-up, especially with the Nordic letters, e.g. å, ø etc.
Now, is it possible to have the English-language OS, but with a Swedish keyboard? |

If you get a mac you can choose the language, but you wont get a mac for 5k.
In terms of button placement, the US keyboard layout is very similar to the Swedish one (without the silly extra letters) - so why not get a US based one instead? In fact, if you can find a person who can ship it to you, you may just be able to get away with taxes ... and thus afford a better PC. Summary UK - Better price Sweden - Better Keyboard US - half of each of the above. |

As I said before I prefer the Swedish keyboard, the American one is even worse IMHO, and secondly I not a Apple drone.
Could you buy a Swedish computer but have English-language OS? Plus, I like to honourable with my taxes thank you. |

Just buy one in Sweden, and ask whoever is selling it to you to put the Windows in English. Refuse to buy it otherwise.

You can absolutely get a good laptop with windows 7 in sweden, within your 5 budget. You can set it up to English and other nordic languages yourself. Mac is overrated and impractical but everything else is ok IMHO.

For me a Mac is essential for switching between different languages, easily and quickly. Apart from that it just feels like a better and more reliable OS.

I wouldn't have thought they were any cheaper in the UK and far more of a hastle to send back if that was necessary.
We bought one of these around 9 months ago and think it is excellent...smart casing and quiet. http://cdon.se/hemelektronik/fujitsu_lifeb...ign=prisjakt_se Plenty of change from your budget. Ours Windows 7 professional rather than Premium but I believe that all of them offer English during the setup phase. However, you might want to double check with them. |

try Dustin - you can choose between English or Swedish for the OS. If you want a UK keyboard just plug in an external USB one |
