Hi smile.gif I'm in the process of writing my Swedish CV for a graphic design job and have a few quick questions that I'd be very thankful and appreciative if someone could give me some tips/insight into:

1. I'm self taught, so what would be the best way to list this? Better to list it in the personlig beskrivning at the top or somehow under Education.

2. I have yet to finish my degree, but attended college in the USA for over a year. Should I just list the university , along with years? Is Dean's List something that would be of importance to a Swedish employer (i.e. would it hold any weight here?)

3. My husband and I ran a successful graphic/web design and computer consulting/repair business for over 10 years in the USA, only discontinuing upon our planned move to Sweden. This is where my graphic design background comes in, i.e. it was something I was interested in, so I taught myself and got a few freelance clients and our business started. What would be the best way to present this on a CV? One of the jobs in question calls for a highschool media line or equivalent.

Thanks so very much! smile.gif

See point (3), self taught when combined with (3) is learning by experience, or on-the-job smile.gif

Don't just put Dean's List, if the potential employer does not know what it is, then it is lost in meaning ... put Dean's List and explain in a line that it means recognition for high grades, or something similar wink.gif That way You mention it and explain quickly what it is... They can ask for more info if they want in an interview.

List the projects, and roughly what was involved, couple that showing the experience in different areas of graphic/design. If web based, then maybe you can, if still in use, include some links as examples? ... why not see if You can get some customer comments/letters, or even if they would be prepared to give references to prospective employers smile.gif ...How Your customers reacted to Your work will certainly be interesting to a prospective employer. Don't put into CV references, but include a line in a cover letter that You could give contact details for cutomers they could ring!

Keeping a business itself running for 10 years is quite an experience, that will help get over any worry about specific qualifications. It is the difference between educated-to-do, and can-do! It is proven ability.
