I don't think you fully realize the value of a shared cultural upbringing until you live abroad. Not that i can think of much worse than living in some expat enclave on a Spanish costa, but there is quite a bond between people who grow up together sharing the same experiences. When you are at 'home' the people you gravitate towards can be as simple as a shared love of quoting Only Fools and Horses and those strange little things are very hard to come by in a foreign country. You can meet people from home abroad but the chances of you sharing those certain things are slim...unless you live in a big city and like spending all your time in the pub. I have found Sweden hard but as time goes by I realize more and more that its not Sweden, its just quite hard for me to be permanently in a foreign country. Sweden has some lovely things going for it. Its so much more easy going than the UK but stress isn't all about hustle and bustle, stress is just what irks us. I went to the doctors for the first time this week and a few months ago i would have felt short changed because he didn't send me packing with a load of drugs as they would have done in England. The 'bedside' manner wasn't great but I think in time you come to realize that Swede's make the 'common sense' choices. They are not prone to knee jerk reactions.

I'll trust the feeling in my lungs. And having also lived in Los Angeles they tell me that they LOVE breathing the air up here in Stockholm smile.gif

Byke the moronity stayed in England with your genes, the guy I was replying to was from the UK: obvious they don't read very well in your gene pool. I was only complaining about whinging Poms not people from the UK in general. So hey go f@&k yourself, don't get personal with me and I won't get personal with you. Get a sense of humour & read this definition.

whinge (hw nj, w nj). intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British. To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.

contact me anytime if you want a personal meet up any time any place to follow this up.

Let me get this straight: you are so bent out of shape by posters complaints that you just had to post a complaint about the complainers?

I'm a bit late in commenting on this one, but bearing in mind the size of Sweden, Stockholm is but a dot on the map by comparison, and the rest of the country DOES enjoy an awful lot of fresh air.
Just picking out a city when everyone else refers to the country as a whole is - well - just a bit picky I would say. And the comparison between Stockholm and LA - - - wink.gif

I'm an American and I'm salivating. Most Americans couldn't even identify the value in a such a list.
