Hello all,

I have recently moved to Sweden (Stockholm) looking for work and im staying with friends of mine, my question is this ... I am currently paying my friend rent which is fine but it will get to a point where I am out of cash (2 months time) and I am worried that if I do not find a job in this time I will be thrown out sad.gif

I am insure what help I can get from the Swedish government, if I run out of money before i get a job what can I do ? are there homeless shelters I can visit/stay in ? Is there any help that I can get ?

I went down to migrationsverket and as I have not registerd my right of residence they said I need a work contract but all of the jobs I have seen (dishwasher/cleaner) or any other jobs require fluent Swedish and to get onto the SFI courses to speak Swedish I need a Personal number which I can only get by having a work contract. I asked them what my options were if I did not find a job within 3 months and they said there were none.

I am really starting to get worried about this as I really need work, i am looking for anything as I am desperate at the moment and freaking out about if I don't find a job what happens and what the systems are that I can contact ..

Help Please!

There is no government help on the Swedish end. Perhaps from your home county? Did you think you could arrive in another county, not speak the language and receive benefits?

Seriously the best sollutions for those who fall between the gaps is to look for work in the sex industry. Prostitutions puts the emphasis of crime onto that of the customer. It would be interesting if more people who were stuck in similar situations registered as self employed hookers would force a change? Just make sure you declare your taxes.

I didn't think that I would need government help as i had a job I was going to walk into but that fell through and now im left in the lurch with no income and no contract to even start the ball rolling, its a horrible position to be in.

What are my options if I get to the 3 month period and still have no work and im out of cash ? What happens then regarding the immigration board ?

Sorry to hear of your problem however you will not be eligible for any government money. The very best you might get a ticket home which you would need to pay back if that. You only option is if your home country has perhaps benefits for you while job seeking. You will be kindly requested to leave by Mv.

Are there no shelters I can stay in ? any external help rather than government help ? By the time the 3 months is up I will not be able to afford a ticket home sad.gif I am really in a pickle as I do not know which way to turn and migrationsverket is not really helpful when it comes to situations like this, can I not apply for asylum or anything ? there must be some sort of options regarding my situation.

I am not a troll I am just confused at what to do and the options available to me are, I do not want to stop looking for work as i believe that it is the only way forward and hopefully i will find some sort of work, i am just asking about my options regarding this as it is starting to worry me.

If i sound desperate it is because i am due to my situation and it is a worrying place to be in.

If you are in fact real

Your EU right of residence is based on having money from work, income from your own country or perhaps being supported by a GF/BF here in Sweden

If your were recieving unemployment in your own country you may be able to transfer these benefits to Sweden

If you cannot support yourself after 3 months then you are expected to return home - if you have not registered your right of residence you are basically an illegal immigrant as you have no right to live in Sweden

You forgot to mention where you came from from your posts so far. Do you know the meaning of asylum? Possibly if you explain your situation in details, stating the reasons you are running away from your home country, people will advice you better.

I came here alone as it was a chance at a new start, I am living with a friend but it will get to the point where I need that job or I move out and figure something out and before that happens I am just checking to see what is open to me option wise.

And btw I am real smile.gif I just did not know where else to post this as its a weird position to be in, it feels like a catch 22 situation where I need a job to be able to register for right of residence to learn Swedish but to learn Swedish for jobs I need a job certificate ... its a round circle with no end

I have enuff money to last till the end of the 3 months but its what happens after that I am worried about.

I do not intend to stay after the 3 months is up but I will do everything possible until that point to find work and explore all my options.

I am from the UK and I am not running from home I just decided to start a new life and decided Sweden was a good a place as any, I can explain my situation in detail if you wish but it seems like the only options I have are to look for work till the 3 months is up then leave the country if I don't find anything.

I threw asylum in the mix as I was unsure if it was possible/an option ?

Well you better start shaving and moisturising that bum of yours.
Just remember to say "tack" afterwards.

Have you thought of being an Au Pair? Don't know if you are a guy or girl...probably harder to find an au pair job as a guy. But in Stockholm plenty of people want Au Pairs and you usually get to live with the family, you'd prob get your personnummer and you would be eligible for SFI once your personnummer arrived. However, you do have to work pretty hard an an Au Pair and you do need to like children and be fine with cooking, cleaning, fitting around other peoples schedules. Think it suits people who have just left home but the older you are it is probably harder to live almost under parents rule who essentially dictate what you do and when you do it!

Just a thought anyway. Good Luck

How old are you? 12?

Asylum is granted to people who have been persecuted in their own country - threatened with DEATH or thrown in PRISON because of the religion, political opnions, sexuality etc

It is not for idiots who move from the UK without doing any proper homework and preparation and run out of money

You have to claim asylum in the first safe country you visit otherwise Sweden will deport you back to this country - the UK is deemed a safe country (unless you are the founder of Wikileaks that it)

I am sorry if this sounds harsh but you sound idiotic
