There is some information for EU migrants on this site: http://stockholmcrossroads.se/en/ The shelters are not open for EU citizens (other than Swedes). |

Byke you are ultimate dickhead . If your not going to give any helpfull imformation why do you bother with your answers. You must be a sad sad person. negativity is always ur answer. I agree with you. The best way to deal with people like that is just to pretend as if they don't exist. If you noticed, that is what the OP did, which is a sign of maturity on his/her part. So many people on this forum are just ridiculous. |

Hey, sorry OP to intrude on your thread but I am facing a similar problem.
I am a Canadian-English Duel-citizen who arrived in Sweden more than 3 months ago. I was unable to find a job during the first 3 months, but applied for Right of Residence anyways under the conditions that I was looking for a job. I've now been here over 4 months, and still no reply from Migrationsverket (waiting 6 weeks). I am here living with my girlfriend, who is willing to support me financial while I try to find a job. I have gone to some interviews so things are looking up. I'm just wondering, am I doing anything wrong? Am I technically here illegally (even though I'm waiting on Migrationsverket?). Can I stay as long as I need to as long as she is willing to support me financially? Unlike OP, I have funds to live here and am not looking for help from the government. |

I'm just wondering, am I doing anything wrong? Am I technically here illegally (even though I'm waiting on Migrationsverket?). Actually, interestingly enough, it appears that You can stay without registering whilst looking for a job!, It kind of doesn't make sense, one moment it says you must register if you intend to stay more than 3 months, but under Job seeker it says You do not have to??? Yet, how do they know your here to ask for proof of job seeking if you do not register???? From Migrationsverket: (http://www.migrationsverket.se/info/147_en.html) You have the right to come to Sweden in order to look for a job. If you are a jobseeker, you do not have to register after having been in Sweden for three months. If you have not obtained a job within six months, the Migration Board can demand proof that you are actively looking for work and that you have a good chance of finding it. Mind You, unfortunately you are in the Twilight Zone, since it is doubtful Skatteverket will give You a personnummer?, which means You will have trouble with healthcare etc... and possibly face big bills! |

Don't mean to be rude or anything but posts like youts (OP) are annoying. You don't have to be spoonfed a job. You are exhibiting a victim mentality. There are plenty of options for you to make money without a job offer, and no, I am not talking about the sex worker thing that byke mentioned.
1 - buy and sell stuff on blocket (or other sites). Sell whatever you buy for 10 percent more. You won't become rich but it's better than nothing, and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to do it. 2 - buy a poker bot like Winholdem and play online, for low stakes. At the low stakes level you aren't going to become rich, but the income from the bot playing is practically guaranteed. 3 - open a site selling open source software repackaged. Just ensure to include the source if your product is based on GPLd code. Other than that, create a new logo, change the interfaces / graphics slightly and start punting. Admittedly this is more difficult than the first two options, because you need some form of marketing. 4 - open a hot dog stand. Keep it running for as long as you can, move around if you get hassled. These are just off the top of my head, and yes, I have done similar things at various times in my life - they will all make you money, you just can't be lazy and expect someone to give you a job on a silver platter. And you can't try any of these things half heartedly - if you're doing to do it, do it properly, work at it for 10 hours a day at least, and don't slack off until you have a good rythym. |

EU citizens who are jobseekers can stay at least 6 months without the need to register. Confirmed by the European Court of Justice. The requirements are that the jobseeker has a genuine chance of being employed and is not a burden on the state! |

EU citizens, if living with a sambo who wills to provide a finnancial support, can stay here as long as they want. They do not even have to look for a job if they do not want to. |

Well... If you can make the money stretch further, you don't have to leave after 3 months if you are a jobseeker. EU citizens can actually stay longer if looking for work. After 6 months the migration board may ask you to prove that you are looking for work but as long as you are looking then you should be fine.
If you are staying with a friend, is there no way you could make a deal? Maybe do the housework etc etc for a reduction in rent? As for work, the only thing I can say is that I do not envy you if you are an unskilled worker :/ I should add that if you are from the UK, you can actually get unemployment benefits while you stay in Sweden. As well as health benefits if you have been working and paying into the system (I got quite a bit of cover after I moved, was quite shocked!) Maybe you could look at the skills that you do have. List the kinds of jobs you can apply those too. Also your CV is pretty important, you need to stand out. Recruiters often throw away really great people because their CV didn't stand out- they can get too many apps and just can't go through them all. Advertise yourself... Show initiative... Work hard... Lots of people need work right now, you have got to show employers that you are a cut above the rest. |
