Actually they'd probably be the bent ones. Another very trollish post minutes after regging. Not my area, but I'll give it an answer based on 30 years of being out in Swedish nightlife and never ever having seen gays. Well, if there are any around in Sweden they certainly hide themselves away. You'll never ever see two grown men holding hands or kissing in pubic in this country. Swedes may have an open attitude and be very liberal and that's maybe why the gays that probably exist somewhere don't feel the need to expose it it people's faces. Maybe in countries which frown upon it gays feel the need to do it openly in view of everyone to challenge society's views. Over here its different and anyway children might see them and Swedes are very protective of children so that's maybe why what ever there is it is hidden away.) Also, there are so many decent looking fit women in this country my guess is most young guys never get tempted to try something else. Oh, there are some good looking birds who snog each other in the night clubs as a sort of come-on to men. But they are not lesbians, just pretending to be to get the attention. Anyway, good luck, maybe you'll meet some nice blond Swedish girl and turn your life back to the norm getting you back on the straight track. I'm sure there are many Swedish blond ladies willing to try as you are from the States |

QUOTE Well, if there are any around in Sweden they certainly hide themselves away Given the publicity that Stockholm Gay Pride gets every year, I do wonder what planet Gary Jones is living on. Must be blind to miss that one. QUOTE Several gay-pride festivals are hosted in Sweden every year. Stockholm Pride is the biggest and oldest festival, and has been organized annually since 1998. In later years, pride festivals have been arranged in Gothenburg, Malmö and Uppsala, and local pride events are hosted in smaller communities.

hallå!
I too am a gay american living in Sweden for a while now. Unlike the states a lot of gays don't congregate as much as you're probably used to. Maybe if you're in a bigger city like Malmö, Göteborg, or Stockholm you might find a few gay bars/clubs. Otherwise, how I socialize in the gay community here in Sweden is using thewebsite Qruiser. So far I have made a lot of new friends near the area that I live. ^^ And if you're worried about the Swedish, don't be. Majority of swedes speak english very well. Hope you enjoy your stay! Sweden can be a very beautiful place. hej då! |

Good to see men own this thread, comfortable talking about gay issues and even enjoying a gag or 2.

My hopefully soon-to-be CTO who is also one of my oldest friends in Sweden is gay. He hangs out in the same places the rest of our group does - as has already been said in this thread, there's a lot less segregation between the gay and straight communities than you'd find in the UK/USA. People here are a lot more sexually tolerant in my experience.

I had no idea either (honest, guv), before googling. And here is a hint to everyone looking for things Swedish. Always use www.google.se, even if not necessary here. And no, the information is of no use to me but as almost in the title of the film I saw many many years ago "jag är bara nyfiken" (0k, gul etc)

I believe grindr is like a GAY-dar app for mobile phones so that you can see which men of similar orientation are looking for casual sex?
So I am guessing this is just one of many aids used by gay men? |

Gay?
You do mean: merry - cheerful - jolly - joyful - blithe - mirthful - happy - without angst, etc.. Don't you? |
