Again, why do you care what Somali women wear? If you want to come here and forget about being who you are that's totally upto you. But don't expect everyone to jump o

There is a difference between Culture and Islam. A Muslim from Turkey or the Middle East or even a Swedish Muslim convert all have different cultures. Example: Honor killing happens only in Iran, Jordan, East of Turkey but why it does not even exist in Saudi Arabia? Please differentiate between Cultural Islam and Authentic Islam. So these people subject to their culture. This will elaborate what I am saying : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuECO3unh3o On another note, I want to mention that when Turkey was ruled by a secular government, not only Muslims suffered , but also Christians, and specifically Orthodox Christians. Now and since Turkey is governed by wise government who are conservatives , Christians and Muslims are enjoying the freedom this government gave. Not to mention how the economy has changed to make them the top 5/10 economies of the world. |

Women in Arab countries have pressure on them all the time since they are small girls ,so they become complexed when they are adults and accept to be lower than a man. I understand this in a sense. I grew up in a place where men are the protectors and women are to be protected. Men are the head and women are the neck sort of thing! It is really easy to feel weak and vulnereable, especially if you -as a woman- have no one to protect you. An old fashioned/bedouin thinking, but it still exists and it is deeply rooted. Arabs who applies for residence permits to live in Sweden then once there start to live just like they have been living in their country must have some kind of problems in the head. Now I can't make my precious kebab anymore? *steps from computer with eyes full of tears*
Also if an European tell them the truth about that the way they live is bad they call him/her "racist" or "closed minded".But they don't understand tha

A Europian? why go this far? I am an Arab and I would never ever...ever for the life of me, say that to an Arab!! "It's okey if an Arab guy date a Swedish girl but it's not okey if a Swedish guy date an Arab girl" Tell me about it. Typicall split personality of Arab groupings in Sweden. But still there are lots of Arab girls dating/are with Swedish and foreign men. Those who must get insulted on the street are women who dress like Ben Laden wife not like me. This sounds a little agressive. Why should anybody be attacked or insulted? |

Well, honor killings happen in Saudi Arabia too. I'm sorry but that's ridiculous saying honor killings don't exist in Saudi Arabia. Plus not only in east of Turkey, honor killings happen in every region of Turkey. They happen almost everyday. Can you imagine it? Newspapers are full of honor killings news. Strange thing, honor killings have increased since the last 10 years.
In terms of freedom nothing has changed with this government. Only positive thing was about headscarfs in public sector and universities. Thousands of students and hundreds of journalists are in prison now. Where is the freedom? And this wise and liberal (!) government tried to ban abortion recently, which has failed. Freedom only can happen on the paper in Turkey. When it comes to real life, there is no freedom as mentioned on the constitution. For example, try to say you are an atheist in public, probably you'll end up dead. |

Well said Rima, you look to be very educated and free thinking. If all were as open minded as you ready to integrate there would for sure not be any discrimination in Sweden.
I lived myself in Saudi Arabia growing up and even though it never crossed our mind becoming Muslims we still tried to follow the rules of the country. We celebrated Christmas, but not openly. Did not drink, eat pork, My mother did not work or drove a car or even less stepping outside the house without my father. Not asking people to give up their religion nor even celebrate it but don't try to impose your ways or religion on others. Just not respectful. Happy holidays Muslims but do not impose it on us please. |

Happy Holidays:
Egypt activists try to stop holiday sex harassment CAIRO (AP) -- A group of Egyptian men had a mission for this year's Eid al-Adha, Islam's biggest holiday, which began Friday. They wanted to make some effort to stop sexual harassment of women, which in past years has spiked in Cairo during the holiday celebrations with the crowds of rowdy men in the streets. - More - http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/M/ML_...-10-26-16-13-16 |

Welcome once again,
Yesterday was the last day of Eid al-Adha, in which we celebrated with friends and family and do not forget du'aa and pray for each of the poor and disadvantaged around the globe from Muslims and non-Muslims asking Allah to bless them with good health and achieve their dreams, and bless us every year. I thank all those who contributed to the response, and I want to make clear and say that congratulations in religious and social occasions is a civilized act, is not intended to prove who is the best or an invitation to change religion, as some understand! But it is an invitation to rapprochement between people with kind words, regardless of religious affiliation and nodular. (It's just a congratulatory no more, no less.) Live long and be happy |

First of all Happy Eid =)
A non Muslim might wonder what is Eid and if this non Muslim is Christian or Jew they should also celebrate, why? Eid al-Adha also called Feast of the Sacrifice, the Major Festival,[1] the Greater Eid, Kurban Bayram and Bakrid,[2] is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honour the willingness of the prophet ʾIbrāhīm (Abraham) to sacrifice his young first-born son Ismā'īl (Ishmael)a as an act of submission to God's command and his son's acceptance to being sacrificed, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead.[3] In the lunar Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and lasts for four days.[4] Prophet Abraham is accepted by Christian and Jews, This Eid is related to the event of Prophet Abraham, it should not sound strange to my christian and Jews friends that why do Muslims celebrate this. Islam is the only religion religion which covers all prophets and accept them, The Prophet Mohammad told the Muslims to send 5 times a day Blessing for Abraham. Each Muslim who prays 5 times a day pray to God to send Abrham and family to Paradise. A true Christian or Jew would never make fun this event but instead should celebrate it. I would say how nice of Muslims to celebrate others prophets event =) |

Just out of curiosity...
None believers in any faith/god, may take offence at an event where a parent is prepared to sacrifice their child upon a belief! and that is celebrated!! Whilst in their atheist world, it is more normal for parents to sacrifice themselves for their children? In todays world they would have called social services, and the child would have been taken away for protection, and the parents deemed not fit. On the other hand, as part of their non-religion is freedom of expression, which sometimes is celebrated with, indeed, questionable humour, maybe in the form of cartoons or films ... those people may or may not find amusement, but believe it is their right of expression. And as Kenny Everett used to say "all done in the best possible taste!". Yet sometimes the creators of this material are threatened with violence, and violent protests take place. Why is 1 ok to celebrate, and the other apparently not? Does adding the magic word Religion make 1 OK and the other not? If so, why? discuss... |
