Having spent over 40 years in aviation, there is a superstition that all bad things come in three's.

Whenever there is a plane crash, we always wait for the second and third accident, which, more often than not, seems to occur, confirming the belief amongst airmen that accidents do come in three's.

In the past couple of days we have seen the deaths of 2 prominent British actors. Yesterday Clive Dunn best know for his role as Cpl Jones in the 70’s TV comedy Dads Army and today the death of Bill Tarmey – Jack Duckworth in Coronation Street.

Who will be the third? cool.gif

That's all bullshit really. There are deaths all the time famous or not. However I will make my prediction if that's what you want. And one that will be a watermark in the emotions of the British. One that has a greater bearing on the people than favourite loved actors

The great, incomparable, Dame Vera Lynn.

Plus a fiver each way on Phil the Greek.

Pathetic to wish a death to someone who has done nothing to YOU. That's how far the world has come to...Sad .

I am not wishing the death of anyone, Just postulating the question of who of the well known people around will be the next to pop his/her clogs, if that is you accept my theory that such things come in three’s

Unless we have some elixior of everlasting life, we will all at some stage die. For most of us the passing to whatever, if anything, is to come after death, will go un-noticed to the wider world, for some, who have achieved some modicum of fame, the passing will be mentioned in dispatches.

The question is related to superstition and posters belief. Perhaps if you had read the original post before shooting off at a tangent, you might just have understood.

Clive Dunn was 92 and Bill Tamey was 72. We are not talking about premature death but something that could be expected. As for wishing death on someone, I never do that, although in the past some posters on TL have wished it upon me.

When in the UK you would find some amazing tales reading the dispatches in the better newspapers, people you had never heard, but often led incredible and inspiring lives. Similar the a 30min programme once a week on radio4 (podcast available).

Superstitious, everything comes in 3s, eventually. (well almost).

In the lead up to Armitice Sunday, among some of the incredible stories that have come up is the story of an Indian Princess that died after being parachted to France by the SOE during the war. Until now nobody had heard of her.
