(edit title) Songs in Swedish language What do you recommend? Options

Hi Folks,

I'm asking for you to recommend some songs/singers that use the Swedish language as a way of learning some nice idioms and extra vocabulary.

What I would be especially grateful for are recommendations that do NOT include:

- drinking songs
- midsommar songs
- schlager

I like to listen to singer/songwriter music generally and something in this line I might actually listen to over and over again without it feeling like study.

For example, I liked the music from the movie "Så som i Himmelen" and got some nice phrases from listening to that soundtrack over and over.

Reading children books and listening to music is a great way to pick up the language. Luckily Sweden is the highest per capita country that produces music.

During my first course in Swedish at Folkuniversitet - Swedish for Foreigners - as it was way back in 1960, the young lass who was our teacher gave us Lasse Dahlqvist's 'Dans på Brännö brygga' and one by Evert Taube - 'Mormors kök' I believe it was.
Whatever you do do not try Taube. He literally crams umpteen words onto one note, making it both difficult to pronounce and even more difficult to understand. To this day I have never mastered that one, but the words of Dans på Brännö Brygga are still with me. I got more into Taube as my Swedish improved, but for early stages I would suggest choosing texts that are both easy to follow and to match to the melody. Not being into today's Swedish music I can make no suggestions in that respect, but only suggest ways to be able to choose the songs and the music. Unfortunately I am more into 'Queen' than the music of today. But some of the older melodies are both very musical, easy to understand, and still popular.

Just to be clear, I was asking for songs I would listen to for pleasure and not expressly for the purpose of language learning.

Some of these hit the mark (like the Mando Diao) but others (like the national anthem and a cooking song) are not really what I was after.

I mentioned Lasse Dahlquist. If you live on the west coast by chance, this may give you something to think about. He gave Sweden some nice melodies, and his background was 'west coast'. He died on Brännö, and one of his popular melodies was, as mentioned earlier, 'Dans på Brännö Brygga'. Listen to it here:-
