I have some legal documents to get Notarized (power of attorney docs). Is there such thing as a Notary Public in Sweden or do I have to go through (an expensive) lawyer for such a task?

No, Notary services are not available anywhere in the world except for the mighty UK and USA unsure.gif

Seriously, this question comes up here every two months or so. Google for "notarius publicus sverige" .

By law, each County (Län) is required to have at least 1 Notarius Publicus.

They are normally required to have passed jurisexamen. So, it depends on the bank, and if the county make a exception (which they can if there is good reason).

Nope, banks cannot in general Notarise documents in the formal legal sense. They can attest to your identity as can a police official but this is not recognized internationally nor in a court of law.

Don't worry, they will happily travel to your place. For a fee, of course rolleyes.gif .
