Hi all!

Is there any benefit in living in suburbs, say, Botkyrka?

Is there any significant difference in living expenses, taxes, anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Each district (even within Stockholm) has a different tax rate. You also pay tolls when traveling by car into town. Certain suburbs have favourable tax rates.

Certain suburbs also have more variety and competition of food store prices etc.
Certain suburbs are more preferable due to availability of free parking.

Here you can get all kinds of official statistics on Stockholm produced by Stockholm Stad for the various areas, including population breakdowns etc:

Northern part at least. Places like Tullinge and Tumba are allright-ish.

It's pretty on Söder and some places around the water but the suburbs of Stockholm are very ordinary (and I'm being VERY polite).

That's Stockholm for you: pretty but hideously expensive inner city and extremely boring suburbs.

I think the op was asking about good value for money, not high status areas among country yokels. smile.gif

The tax is a bit higher in Botkyrka than in Stockholm. It's 32.38 in Botkyrka and 29.49 in Stockholm.

Well, only rent for now. I'll work in Liljeholmen so mostly look for place along the röda linjen.

If you work in Liljeholmen, don't forget to look at places along Tvärbanan too. Årsta is nice and pretty close to Liljeholmen.
