Åke Green cleared over gay sermon

The pastor sentenced to jail for a controversial sermon about homosexuality has been freed by Sweden's Supreme Court. He's relieved, but gay rights groups call for the law to be toughened.

A win for the freedom of speech and a loss for the gay movement. I expect we will see the gays gird themselves with their histronics and the government condem the court ruling.

As a gay person I think this is a great victory for freedom. I don't agree with him but he has every right to say what he believes. We cannot just outlaw speech we disagree with. Our society is just too easily offended these days.

Poor Muslims. After all no Muslim spreads hate propaganda on the internet against Jews. And their stance on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual) people is definitely refreshing, a beacon of hope in this world full of homophobic Christians. Jeez. One wonders if the people commenting in the article are being intellectually dishonest or are just plain ignorant. Someone should wake up and smell the coffee.

I think people should have the right to say what they want. By stating that, you should accept others to say something back. Take the example of the idiot Pedro Rodrigues. It is obvious he has something against Muslims and he is pro Israeli. He has the right to be and say what he wants, but then he must accept it when people say something about jews and Israel. Oh one thing, when the woman (I forgot her name) said that men are animals and walking dildos, why is it that people made more of a fuss than what the pastor said?

The kind of statements by ''UMEA ''should not be allowed on this site. There is no reason to call someone an idiot (Umea referring to Pedro) just because he has expressed his views which may be contrary to yours.
Please let us try to keep discussions here civil and polite.
The LOCAL moderators should step up their vigilance and not allow remarks that attack the personality of contributors to be aired.
I believe that it is statements like these, which have made some contributors to withdraw from posting here in the past.
Going back to the original thread and discussion concerning the acquittal of Ake Green, as a christian i believe that GOD wants us to speak the truth in love because GOD himself is LOVE.Check out the way Jesus handled the issue of the woman caught in adultery that was brought before him.
May GOD help us to become more like Jesus Christ who hates sin but loves the sinner.

Aiyekoto: Maybe it was God who made him say it... After all, he created us all; you, me, Åke Green - all of us. Good & bad.

No, nothing of the sort is obvious, except to you. What is obvious to everybody, though, is that you are a very rude human being that can't take an educated comment and discuss it at a mature level. Reverting to ad hominem attacks makes you look bad. I am sorry the civilization train passed and you were left behind.

And about Ireen von Wachenfeldt, yes, there was a fuss, but not that much. After all she was able to keep her position at ROKS for more than a month. Had she said the same about women, gay men, or Muslims, she would not last so long.

Pedro, it obvious you have something against Muslims since you singled them out. you did not mention the jews or the roma. who is your dealer, because you are smoking some amazing S**t.
and Aiyekoto
i agree with you. i should not have used the word idiot. so i would ask The Local to delete that post. i apologize if i brought The Local down to an uncivilized state. also Pedro i apologize. you are not an idiot. If i can find a word that is synonymous to idiot and can be posted without offending anyone, then that is what you are.

Just by repeating many times that something is obvious doesn't make it so. Back it up with hard facts, please. And mind you, insinuations that I consume hallucinogenics are NOT facts. If you were so sure of yourself and of the lack of merit of my post, you wouldn't have gone off like a bomb and reacted the way you did.

But, for the sake of argument, lets assume the reason for your acting up was because I singled out Muslims from that pack. True, I did it. I admit it. So, does that make me anti-Muslim? No. Pro-Israel? Hardly. And before you come up with another tirade about this or that being oh so obvious, let me justify myself. I singled out Muslims because they are an easy target when it comes to their respect (or lack thereof) for LGBT and Jews. Is there, after all, any Muslim country in the world that consigns rights in theirs law to gays or lesbians? Aren't there Muslim countries in the world that have as a stated objective the annihilation of another state (because this one state is Jewish)? In the end, if I can stand accused of anything, is of some laziness of thought by going after such an easy, if still obvious target when it comes to double standards.

As a final note on this sordid affair, you can call me whatever you want, you can think of me whatever you wish. You can even use as many synonyms of idiot you can find, I can live with that. What i can't live with is people that ask for respect and make such a fuss about it, but want to give none back.

Got to do with this article. Man you bore me with your Jewish and Muslim thing. This not the first time you mentioned them. Talk about the pastor and his comments, talk about the weather, talk about anything else. If you want to deal with the Jewish and Muslim issue, open a new post.

You must be mistaken. Show me a post where I mention Jews and Muslims, besides the ones in this thread? Are you, by any chance, resorting to plain lying?

Yeah, this is boring, everything is boring after some time. Specially if it doesn't go our way.

As a Swede I feel sick by this verdict. Why? Don't I think Åke Green has a right to think and say what he wants? Yes I do think he has the right to both say and think what he wants but I do think there is a huge difference in talking and preaching. Preaching I equal to teaching so no I think he should go to jail for this.
