Eurovision Song Contest. I like that Sweden takes the Eurovision Song Contest seriously. Other countries, the UK included, would do well to follow Sweden’s lead in promoting new talent, instead of sending ridiculous has-beens, such as Englebert Humperdinck to be ritually humiliated. After all, you’re guaranteed exposure to around 100m people – that’s a sizeable tranche of record-buying power you’re ignoring just because the Eurovision isn’t ‘cool’.
