Malmö Museer (Malmö Museums)

Malmö is a historically important city with its near location to the sea and the Continental border. The 15th century Malmöhus castle tells a story of both feuds and commercial trade, much of it with Denmark and Germany. The castle served as a fortified base for the occupying forces, leaving traces of a long line of royalty. One major industry during Danish settlement was coin minting. Exhibitions include a vast coin collection, weaponry, furniture, and artwork. At the Technology and Maritime House, visitors learn about Malmö sea fare, commercial fishing, submarines, ferries, ships, and steamboats. Another focus is technological advances within steam engines, electricity, and solar power as they pertain to the Skåne industry. Ebba's House is a preserved 1910 residence, arranged and equipped for the time period, and Wowragården is a 17th century farmhouse that includes farming tools and equipment as well as elements of Skåne gastronomy.
