The booze debate continues, and this week there were more suggestions that Göran Persson is on the verge of agreeing to reduce the tax on alcohol.

Svenska Dagbladet reported on Sunday that Scandinavian ministers recently met in Iceland for discussions on the subject. The Swedes already buy cheaper alcohol abroad, which Persson acknowledged. The Danes have already lowered their tax, which has led to less activity on the black market. But in Finland it appears consumption of alcohol increased when tax on alcohol went down.

"Tax reductions may have a domino effect on all Scandinavian countries", reported SvD.
